    At Ersta Skndal University College, you can studyto become a nurse, psychotherapist, social worker,deacon, theologist or church musician. Te educationoered by Ersta Skndal University College is carriedout in our departments, located on two campuses.

    Te Royal University College o Fine Arts (KKH) wasounded in 1773, and is today both the oldest andthe leading university college o ne arts in Sweden.KKH oers courses in ne arts at basic and advancedlevels, and in architecture at an advanced level.

    KKH has approximately 240 students; some othem are on a ve-year programme leading to a Mas-ters Degree, others a three-year bachelor programmein ne arts, or on various project programmes orproessional artists, supplementary courses in archi-tecture, restoration art, and in art and architecture.Tere will be a two-year master programme in nearts starting in 2010.

    Te ability to ormulate and express your own dis-tinctive character through various media orms, to

    develop your skills, and the opportunity to developan independent attitude and a critical view o artisticcreation are some o the goals o the ne arts pro-grammes. Te courses take the students own indivi-dual art work as their base and extend this with boththeoretical and practical training in both older andmore recent techniques in KKHs own workshops.

    Sophiahemmet University College is a modern univer-sity college with high-quality education and researchin Nursing Science and related areas. Approximately1,000 students attend our dierent programmes andcourses.

    Te three-year nursing programme is rated as oneo the best in the country. With nearly hal o theeducational time clinically based, a number o elec-tive courses and a personal study environment, thenursing students are well prepared or a proessionalrole when graduating. Te language o instruction iscurrently Swedish. Applicants thereore need advan-ced Swedish language skills.

    Study on site or online

    Besides the three-year nursing programme we pro-vide specialist nursing programmes in Elderly Careand Pre-hospital Emergency Care.     Located in the very heart of Stockholm

    Sophiahemmet University College originated in thenursing school that was started in 1884 by the Swe-dish Queen Sophia, who introduced a programmethat contained both theoretical teaching and clinicaltraining. Tis concept was new in Sweden at the timeand was inspired by the ideas o Florence Nightinga-le.

    Since 1889 the University College has been locatedright in the very heart o Stockholm in the Sophia-hemmet Park at Valhallavgen. Our new, modern a-cilities or teaching and learning were inaugurated inautumn 2007.

    Te training o actors in Sweden began in 1787, andwas initiated by King Gusta III. Until the mid 1960s,the education o actors was closely connected to someo the theatres in Sweden; in Stockholm to the RoyalDramatic Teatre. Tree separate colleges o actingwere established in 1964: in Gothenburg and Malmas part o Gothenburg and Lund Universities, and inStockholm as an independent academy. In 1996, aourth college o acting was established in Lule inthe north o Sweden.

    Te Stockholm Academy has two programmes, athree-year acting programme and a three-year mimeprogramme. Tere is also a great variety o continua-tion courses or actors, on dierent subjects and ovarying length.

    Admission

    Students in the two programmes are selected throughspecial auditions. One o the requirements or par-ticipating in these auditions is a good command othe Swedish language. Tere are today no courses ornon-Swedish-speaking students. Te Academy has noscholarships to oer.

    Every year the Academy accepts 8-10 students to

    the acting programme. Te number o applicantsis usually 800-1000. o the mime programme, thenumber o applicants is 100-150, with auditions eve-ry third year; 8-10 students are accepted. Te deadli-nes or applications to both programmes vary.

    Tere are three study programmes at the StockholmSchool o Teology (HS), one in cooperation withUppsala University. All programmes are validated bythe Swedish National Agency or Higher Education(Hgskoleverket). Te programmes are open to thosewho want to pursue the ull programme, as well as tothose who want to take individual courses. Coursesusually run over a period o ten weeks and some othem take place in the evenings. Since its establish-ment in 1993 the Stockholm School o Teology hasdeveloped into one o the leading schools o its kindin the country in education and research.

    Te campus o HS is situated in Bromma, closeto a nature reserve and within walking distance o themetro at Brommaplan. Te premises are modern andcomortable and the library is large and well stocked.

    We make every eort to employ teachers who are

    pedagogically skilled and who are at the rontline oresearch in their elds. Tere are approximately 500students registered at HS.     Te Erica Foundation has been commissioned bythe Swedish government and the Stockholm CountyCouncil to run university-level training and providepsychotherapeutic treatment or children, adolescentsand their amilies.     Prerequisite: education in a caring profession

    Educational programmes are oered to those whoalready have basic education in a caring proession.Examples o programmes given at the Erica Founda-tion are advanced training in psychotherapy targe-

    Te University College o Music Education in Stock-holm, SMI, was ounded in 1960 and is an indepen-dent university college or education in music and re-lated arts. SMI educates music teachers and teachersin speech and communication.

    SMI is located in a beautiul school building rom1912 in the centre o Stockholm. It is a small uni-versity college where you get to know everyone andshare classes with students rom various programmesin pedagogical and artistic projects.

    Undergraduate Programme

    SMI oers a three-year undergraduate programme

    to qualiy you as a music teacher in compulsory andupper-secondary school, in schools o music and artsor other types o schools.
