SUMMER OFFERINGS (By SiPN)
• Besides the semester editions, SiPN aims to offer regular
Summer options for North American students
• 3 different sessions*
June 2014(4 weeks)
July 2014(4 weeks)
August 2014(4 weeks)
* A student can choose to take only one session or can combine sessions
* Federal financial aid only applies for programs of 8 weeks or longer & 6 US credits

1. SiPN “generated” courses
• Courses are generated by the program itself
• Faculty chosen by SiPN
• Credits (ECTS) issued by partner universities
• SiPN manages all program logistics

2. Regular Summer offerings
• Existing summer programs at partner universities
• Credits (ECTS) issued by partner universities
• Faculty hired by partner universities
• SiPN manages housing and all program logistics,
including orientation/cultural immersion

3. Internships options
• SiPN creates and manages a portfolio of internship
opportunities
• Placements for students fluent in Portuguese as well as
non-Portuguese speakers
• ECTS credits issued by partner university
• Faculty supervision of internship
• Summers internships last 8 weeks minimum, student
chooses full-time (6 US credits) or part-time (3 US
credits)

SiPN “generated” courses*
• Politics and Development of Modern Portugal (3 US credits,
Political Sci)
• Music, Migration and Modernization in Contemporary
Portuguese Society (3 US credits, Anthropology)
• Non-intensive Portuguese language course for foreigners POR
101/102 (39 contact hours, 3 US credits)
• Internship A (runs during the month of June & July, 3/6 US
credits)
Courses offered by partner universities• Troia Summer School of Archaeology (exclusive option, 6 US
credits in Classics, Anthropology or Art History)
*Students will most likely combine 2 of these courses (except if doing an internship
full time)

• Portuguese Literature in Translation (3 US credits,
humanities)
• Non-intensive Portuguese language course for foreigners –
POR 201/202 (39 contact hours, 3 US credits)
• Internship A (June & July, 3/6 US credits)*
• Internship B (July & August, 3/6 US credits)*
* If the internship is full-time (6 US credits) no other course can be
added to the student schedule

• Intensive Portuguese all levels (UL, 80 contact hours, 6 US cr) *
• Leadership and Strategic Knowledge (ISCTE, 3 US cr, Business) *

• Brand Management and Marketing Communications (ISCTE, 3 US
cr, Business) *
• Persuasion, Choices and Consumer Behaviour (ISCTE, 3 US cr,
Business) *
• Online: Portuguese Art & Architecture (POR313, UMass
Dartmouth, 3 US credits, 5 weeks) **
• Online: Brazil: History and Culture (HST 376, UMass Dartmouth, 3
US credits, 5 weeks)**
* Full time programs that can’t be combined
** Tuition for online courses is paid directly to UMass Dartmouth

▪ Cross-Cultural Communication and Negotiation (ISCTE, 3 US
credits)**
▪ International Marketing Strategy and Simulation Game (ISCTE, 3
US credits)**
* If the internship is full-time (6 US credits) no other course can be added
to the student schedule
** Full time programs that can’t be combined

Cost per month/4 week session
▪ $2,500 for 3 US credits
▪ $3,250 for 6 US credits
▪ If full-time internship for 6 US credits, student pays $3,250 for
8-week stay
▪ Online classes taken through UMass Dartmouth are paid
directly to UMD

Cost per month/4 week session
Includes:
▪ Tuition
▪ Housing (single room, shared apartments)
▪ 24/7 On-site support
▪ Lisbon transportation card
▪ Airport arrival, airport transport and welcome orientation
package
▪ Farewell Dinner
▪ Cultural and social excursions with at least 1 overnight stay
(whether promoted by SiPN or by the Partner University)
