***SCHOOL RULES AND POLICIES***
❖ Before being dismissed for first period, ALL students MUST be
in their assigned areas. 6th grade students report to the
AUDITORIUM. No students are allowed to be in the hallways,
classrooms or restrooms WITHOUT PERMISSION.
❖ Locker times: Morning, after being dismissed from their
designated areas; Before and After Lunch; Between 4th and 5th
Period.
❖ Dress code: Burgundy polo shirt with BCMA logo, khaki/navy
pants/shorts or skirts that are knee-length, BCMA burgundy sweater
or solid burgundy sweater. School I.D. must be worn around the
neck at all times.
❖ ONLY ON FRIDAYS: Blue or black jeans with no tears, cuts or
holes, BCMA spirit t-shirt or college t-shirt.
❖ When dismissed at 3:50 p.m., all bus riders must proceed directly
and promptly to the bus ramps. School buses will leave at 3:57 p.m.
everyday. Car riders/walkers must proceed directly and promptly to
the front of the building.
❖ Be respectful to school personnel and fellow students.

Monday/Tuesday Warm Up SSR Short Story “The Fun They Had” Close Reading Review (N.A.M.E.S.) Identify Author’s Purpose Text Genres Homework: Reading Log: 20 minutes daily reading for Friday Turn-in. Scholars will be introduced to the fiction short story titled “The Fun They Had” by Isaac Asimov. Scholars will read the text, then complete a close reading using the acronym N.A.M.E.S. The close reading strategy aid readers in identify author’s purpose in a literary text. Students will be quipped with all necessary close reading tools in the classroom. Wednesday/Thursday Warm Up

SSR N.A.M.E.S. Text Genres Homework: Reading Log: 20 minutes daily reading for Friday Turn-in Scholars will continue reading analytically using N.A.M.E.S. along with review of Context Clues. These strategies will be applied to a newly introduced Narrative Fiction titled “A Bad Robot”. Scholars will independently read passage along with a review with the teacher. Scholars will learn and use a new way to analyze and annotate text while reading using the acronym N.AM.E.S. After the reading, independently, learners will answer comprehension questions that require high-order thinking skills. Friday “The Fun They Had” Comprehension Quiz Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) Due: Homework Daily Reading Log Homework: Begin new weekly Reading Log Parent Note: Please allow your student dedicated reading time of at least 20 minutes each day. The nightly reading logs are due to me each Friday and should be signed by the parent/guardian. This is a weekly homework expectation.
