AP Courses

➢ Grade 11 and 12 AP courses follow the Ministry curriculum for the course and also provide extra learning to prepare students for a College Board AP exam.

➢ Based on their performance on the AP exam, students can earn credit, advanced placement or both for university.

➔ Think about your learning style, which means, the way you learn best (theory or hands on). Then, consider the style of program that will best suit you and the pathway you want to follow.

➔ Discuss your progress with your teachers.

➢ Check diploma requirements.➢ Look into post-secondary prerequisites.➢ Determine interests.➢ Evaluate abilities.➢ Talk to others (teachers, parents, older

students).➢ Tentatively plan Grade 12 courses.➢ Speak with Ms. Hoekstra, Mr. Maloley, or

4) OtherEOM Certificates

➢ Arts:● Music - 6 credits (incl. 1 from Grade 12)● Visual Art - 6 credits● Visual Arts (honours) - 8 credits● Dance - 4 dance courses plus two additional VA, Drama, Music - two of these

must be Grade 11 or 12 level● Drama - 4 drama courses, plus two additional VA, Dance, or Music at Grade 11

or 12 level➢ Business - 6 credits➢ Immersion French - 10 credits (all four FSL classes, plus 6 additional credits)➢ International Certificate Program➢ Technology - 8 credits starting with an I or a T➢ DELF Exam - Any student enrolled in Grade 12 core or immersion French can take

the test free of charge.

Volunteer Hours➢ You can start earning your hours in

the summer before grade 9.➢ The form is being updated, so be sure

to check that the hours you are earning are eligible to receive credit.

➢ Look online to find out this information.

➢ Try to start accumulating hours early!

If you don’t know what you want to do, keep as many options

open as possible!

Changes to course selections will only be considered for exceptional

circumstances and may require approval from the school's

administration.

Which Grade 9 French course is the right choice?FIF 1D - For French Immersion students only.

FSF 1D - Academic Core French - For students who have been in the

core program, who have studied French since Grade 3, and who may

wish to continue their study of French in Grade 10. Taught in French.

FSF 1P - Applied Core French - For students who have studied French

since Grade 3 & do not wish to continue in French next year. Taught

in English.

FSF 1O - Open Core French - French for beginners. For students who

are new to French, or who began their study of French after Grade 3.

Taught in English.
