Nursing Practice

Question One

Nevada state board of nursing plays a substantial role in the control of the nurses

practicing in the state. This board controls and confirms advanced practice nurses in two distinct

groups. The first category is a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), while the second

category is an advanced practitioner of nursing (APN). For an individual to be approved to

practice as APN in Nevada, one needs to hold an unencumbered Nevada RN license (Heale &

Rieck Buckley, 2015). However, if a graduate nurse does not possess an active RN license in

Nevada, a nurse can obtain one following specific set steps by the Nevada state board of nursing.

The application for licensure can be made applying for the licensure examination, endorsement,

or registered nurse renewal.

If a nurse wishes to work as APRN in the state, a person is required to focus on one of the

following medical or clinical specialties. Clinical nurse specialist, nurse psychotherapist, nurse

practitioner, and nurse-midwife. However, all the APN education programs should incorporate

courses such as pathophysiology, valuation of the wellbeing of patients as well as the training for

a progressive practice nurses (Smolowitz et al., 2015). On the other hand, a nurse who wishes to

work as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in Nevada, one need to complete the

accreditation of nurse anesthesia education program as recognized by the panel. A full

progressive practice registered nurses must belong to specific certifying bodies as documented

by the Nevada state panel of nursing. The state panel of nursing exercising authority over other

certification bodies.

NURSING PRACTICE 3

Advanced practice registered nurse usually have specialized education as well as clinical

training, which enable them to offer high levels of care. APRN will also perform different tasks

which cannot be achieved by registered nurses who are not licensed to do. Nurses can complete

the advanced degree program which qualifies them to practice as independent and assume roles

similar to those of a doctor. The first action toward a career as a nurse practice is for an

individual to earn a credential as a registered nurse. There is a long pathway to get to the nursing

practitioner. An aspiring nurse needs to do an associate degree or bachelor's degree from a

certified institution of higher education. Also, one can register as a diploma student in an

approved vocational training program (Smolowitz et al., 2015). However, in recent times. Such

diplomas have continued to be less popular because most of the health care institution is

demanding the clinicians to acquire a college degree. There are specific education trajectories

that combine the process of becoming registered nurses and receive a bachelor's degree at the

same time. Students sometimes choose to acquire the licensed practical nurse (LPN) on their

pathway of becoming a registered nurse. In both local practical nurse and registered nurse

credentials, the graduates of nursing curricula are compulsory to pass a standard state

examination and get a state license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).

NURSING PRACTICE 4

Various changes have been initiated in Nevada's advanced practice nursing laws. The

new title has been introduced as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). The new

regulations have imposed some additional necessities, which allows the APRNs to offer their

services to the full range of state-recognized scope of practice (Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019).

The state has recognized four advanced nursing roles, which are clinical nurses,

nurse’sanesthetist, nurse midwife, as well as the nurse practitioner. A nurse aspiring to practice

at an advanced level needs to earn a degree at the master level or even at the doctor's scale. The

state nursing board declares that such an advanced practice program should be taken at least one

year long and incorporate clinical experiences. The advanced practice program is accredited by a

nationally certified accreditation agency like the accreditation commission of nursing education

(Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019). The commission on collegiate nursing education can also

execute such a role. Besides, all institutions offering advanced practice program must include

several courses related to the role and population focus. Currently, the regulations have been

changing. APN is now required to have certification via a nationally recognized certification

organization. A good example cited by the state board of nursing is the American board of

nursing specialists as well as the institutes for credentialing excellence (Zaccagnini & Pechacek,

2019). Advanced practice registered nurses cannot be directly certified by the national

commission for accreditation bodies. However, it can be approved by an accredited certifying

agency.

Question Four

To be prescribed as an advanced practice registered nurse, their various steps that need to

be followed. Several steps must be undertaken as follows (1) a nurse aspiring to practice as

APRN. The first one needs to get a graduate degree. A student should work towards attaining the

certificate of recognition. Also, a graduate must attend to either clinical nurse's specialist, nurse

midwife, nurse physician, as well as the nurse psychotherapist. The graduate student taking APN

should incorporate advanced courses (Heale & Rieck Buckley, 2015). (2) A nurse graduate

should work to earn national certification. This certification is obtained through completion of an

education program, and a national accreditation body should certify a nurse in respective

advanced practice nursing role. These certification bodies need to be distinguished by the state

panel of nursing. The most popular institutions include the “American nurses credentialing

center” as well as the nationwidepanel of certification. (3) The third step is to apply for a

Page 6: Student’s Name: Institutional Affiliation€¦ · groups. The first category is a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA), while the second category is an advanced practitioner

recognition certificate. For one to apply for the advanced practice nurse, a graduate nurse need to

complete the advanced practitioner of the nurse's license successfully. Specific items such as

processing fees, completed fingerprints, documentation, a current certificate of recognition,

among other mandatory things (Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019). The three steps should be

followed in the prescription process.

Question five

Controlled substance registration is a requirement that a person must meet before he or

she prescribe any controlled substance which is supposed to be followed in a specific order. The

first step is to receive the pending controlled substance registration number. Secondly, a nurse

needs to attain the drug enforcement administration DEA and finally obtain the Nevada

prescription and monitoring program account (Rutledge, Haney, Bordelon, Renaud & Fowler,

2014). Under each step, several steps need to be completed. For instance. A practicing nurse

should complete a specific, attached controlled substance. To complete the first step, one needs

to possess a current Nevada practicing license from the different licensing board and

consequently mailing the completed application along with the required registration fee

(Zaccagnini & Pechacek, 2019). While seeking to obtain the drug enforcement administration,

one needs to complete an online drug enforcement agency form. And finally, a practicing nurse

receives a drug enforcement agency license from the state board of pharmacy.
