I. Demand Analysis
It has been long headache in many elementary schools and middle schools all
over the world. Every morning, kids go to school and parents go to work. What
if kids dont get into school safely? What if they play truant? How can parents
know? If there is a system that can inform parents whenever their kids arrive or
leave school, then the problem is solved. Fortunately, our student
arriving/leaving safely message service system is designed for such purpose
and much more.
We all know, basically both school and parents want to know:
Safety: whether or not arrive and leave school safely
Attendance check: whether or not arrive and leave school on time, be late
or leave early
Behavior in school and at home: grades, attitude, etc.
Moreover, how to build channels for school and parents to make
communications simpler, more efficient and more effectively? How to let
parents get chance to know more about their kids in school? How to let
teachers know about kids behavior at home? All these problems have been
noticed for long time and people has found many ways to try to solve these
problems from different angles.
superRFIDs student arriving/leaving safely message service system combines
advanced RFID technology and widely used cell phone message service
provided by telecom companies, to build a powerful and convenient tool for
school and parents.
II. System brief description and designfundamentals

Student arriving system software: support all functions such system should
have, including database
Message CAT: support sending and receiving message with SIM card
inserted in it. If message gateway device are installed, then there is no
need to use message CAT.
4. System advantages
System can be installed and run independently without relying on
communication network in schools
Low investment: the price of a set of standard system can be as low as a
couple of thousand dollars, even zero cost after running.
Flexible access modes: support message CAT and message gatewayaccess modes simultaneously, even customized message gateway
access mode. Customer just need to purchase SIM card and pay cell
phone bill.
Hardware installation and maintenance are simple. Software is easy to
use.
School can run the system independently: services are charged to take
back investment, even to make profits.

Message CAT is also called GSM MODEM, a embedded GSM module.
Inserted into SIM card in cell phone, Message CAT can build communication
wirelessly with message center of mobile service provider, and connect with
server in school to send and receive messages freely. KX-SMM Message CAT
is a device integrating technology of LAN and GSM.

3.2 System structure with Message Gateway
The whole system has one or more special message paths to message center
of telecom service provider, such as China Mobile, China Unicom, China
Telecom and China Netcom, and integrate with campus network seamlessly
through system server and application software.

2. System Hardware
2.1 Summarization
Long reading range tags are issued to students and reader is installed above
the school gate. When students wearing tags pass the gate, reader will detect
those tags automatically and send there IDs to server, and finally send
message to their parents. There is no need for student to stop to slide cards as
usual and reader can detect multiple tags at the same time, so students do not
have to pass the gate one by one.

2.3 brief description
Each student wears a wireless tag. When they pass school gate, the reader
nearby will detect those tags, judge his direction (coming in or going out), then
send information to computer. The computer will send corresponding message
to parents. For example, Daddy, I am in school now or Daddy, school is over
and I will be home in one minute. The same information is also backed up in
computer and made into report forms for future reference. On the other hand,
we can store students personal information in tags, such as blood type,
emergency phone number, in case needed. Such system is very popular in
North America and Europe, useful and convenient. Our systems have been
successfully put into use in many schools in Inner Mongolia, Chengdu,
Xinjiang and worked stably for a couple of years. Such system can also find
applications in prison management and customers feedbacks proved our
success.
Compared with other companies, our products have some outstanding
features: with longer identification range, students can pass the gate without
having to stop to slide cards on machines. Therefore, it is much more efficient
when many students try to pass the gate at almost the same time. Moreover,even if many students pass the gate simultaneously (up to 200) or the card is
blocked by another student or his own body, the tag can still be detected
accurately and timely, no chance of miss reading. Besides, with ultra low
power consumption, one single card will be enough for each student from first
enrollment to graduation, no need to change battery during the whole school.
2.4 System features
long reading range: tags can be detected within 50 meter range. There is
no need to slide cards or get into a small required area to make sure tag is
detected. All processing is automatic. As long as students wear tags, they
can pass the school gate freely without any extra operation. We can see
benefits clearly at rush hours.
Anti-collision: up to 200 students can be detected simultaneously, walking
in or on school bus.

V. Case Study
1. summarization
A typical school is composed of two gates, two teaching buildings and an office
building. Central computer control room is in office building. Mail room is
besides gate 1, while there is a parking lot besides gate no. 2. the simple
diagram is as follows:
In this case, long reading range solution is chosen. Therefore, all processes
are automatic. As long as students wear tags as required, they do not have toslide cards to enter school gates.

At gate 1, reader is installed on the wall (under ceiling) and power is provided
from mail room. At gate 2, reader is installed on the top of the external wall ofparking lot and power is provided from parking lot.
Reader is connected with switching machine through RS485 IP converter
to realize IP packaging and transmission. Each reader need to be equipped
with one converter and between reader and converter, RS485 cable is applied.
Notice the cable must be covered with PVC casing. Network wire is used
between converter and switching machine.
Optical cable laid by telecom service providers enter into central computercontrol room and is connected to system server. Data communication
between control room and No. 1, No. 2 office buildings are fulfilled by campus
network.
Once system hardware installation and software deployment are finished, we
need to do system function and performance testing, including signal coverage
testing, interface testing, data transmission flow testing and converter data
flow testing.
