BRIDGWATER COLLEGE ACADEMIC APPEALS STAGE 1 - Student and Lecturer/Assessor We aim to treat all students equitably in our handling of the assessment process. If you feel that you do not agree with the assessment decision made by your lecturer/assessor, you must explain the reasons for to the lecturer/assessor concerned, as soon as possible (preferably as soon as you have received the assessment decision) and within three working days of receipt of the assessment. The lecturer/assessor will consider your case and provide an immediate response (within three working days). This will involve a clear explanation of the assessment decision following a re- evaluation of the evidence. If you agree with the decision then an appeal need not proceed. If you do not agree with the decision reached then you need to state that you want to take the appeal to Stage 2 by informing your lecturer/assessor within 3 working days and complete the Stage 2 Candidate Appeal Form. STAGE 2 - Student/Lecturer/Programme Manager/Lead IV The lecturer/assessor must forward all assessment records and the Stage 2 Appeal Form to the Programme Manager/Lead Internal Verifier within 24 hours of the appeal being stated. The Programme Manager/Lead Internal Verifier will reconsider the assessment decision by evaluating the evidence and records; the lecturer’s rationale for the decision, the opinion of an independent second assessor. The Programme Manager will complete Section 2 of the Appeal Form and provide the candidate with the reconsidered decision within 5 working days of receiving the appeal. STAGE 1 - Student and Lecturer/Assessor

We aim to treat all students equitably in our handling of the assessment process. If you feel that you do not agree with the assessment decision made by your lecturer/assessor, you must explain the reasons for to the lecturer/assessor concerned, as soon as possible (preferably as soon as you have received the assessment decision) and within three working days of receipt of the assessment.

STAGE 3 - Appeals Panel

If you are not satisfied with the outcome it may be necessary for the Appeal to be brought before a small Panel, consisting of at least one senior member of staff not previously involved. The decision of the Appeals Panel is final.

The External Verifier cannot become involved in the Appeals process except in an advisory capacity.
