Seadowns Stud was established in 1994. Initially with females from Bushy Downs and later with females from Maryvale, Broadacre, and Waihau. In 2001 we purchased Polled cows from the Norfolk Dispersal for our breeding programme then in 2006 we purchased cows from The Kiwi Dispersal also in 2009 we purchased cows from The Leelands Dispersal and Braxton Dispersal.Our Seadowns property is 300 hec situated on steep down country and our cattle are raised as commercially as possible. Our stud aims to produce cattle of moderate size whilst maintaining good muscling, constitution and temperament.

Conditions of Sale

1. Bulls are sold subject to the conditions governing auction sales held by New Zealand Stock and Station Agent Association.

2. Mycoplasama Bovis tested clear 2018 & 2019 Season.

3. All bulls are tested clear of BVD and have been vaccinated for BVD.

4. FERTILITY GUARANTEE: All bulls in this sale are guaranteed for a period of three years from sale to be fertile and stay structurally sound. In order for this guarantee to be valid the purchaser needs to prove that all reasonable care and prudent management practices were maintained with regard to the bull. Refunds will be given on a pro rata basis relating to the number of years used less the salvage value.

5. DELIVERY: Bennetts Transport to be the sole carrier to transport our sale bulls. We have asked them to coordinate the movement of all sold bulls from Seadowns Herefords to within a 150km radius of us, to either their final destination or to link with another transport. Seadowns Hereford’s will cover the cost of the clean trucks & the 150km movement.

6. All lots are sold GST exclusive

7. Purchasers are asked to complete accurate booking instructions, deliver and insurance preferences at the conclusion of the sale. Use the form at the back of this catalogue. Insurance of your purchase is recommended and representatives of relevant companies will be at the sale.

8. Please bring your NAIT number to the sale to complete the purchase documentation.

9. Please bring this catalogue to the sale.

10. PURCHASING REBATE: All intending purchases are required to register at the sales office prior to the sale. A purchasing rebate of 6% will then be paid to non participating livestock companies and recognised independent livestock agents with approved credit facilities introducing and/or accompanying buyers to the sale. Arrangements must be made Prior to the sale and settlement made on the purchasers behalf within 14 days. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE

11. Visitors are always welcome to inspect both the bulls and cow herds at any time by appointment.

12. SAFETY: The sale is conducted on a working farm so please exercise care at all times. Treat all electric fences as live. We have been careful with our facilities and our cattle are docile but remember that you come to Seadowns at your own risk.

Colin preferred the horned breed more than the polled but due to a change in farming & the next generation, Scott & Nicky are working to bring the Polled Genetics back into their herd.

The 2020 catalogue is presented with confidence, that we have picked our best stud bulls out of the herd for sale day.

Exclusive Bull CoverWhat is Exclusive Bull cover?All bulls auctioned at this sale up to the value of $50,000 will automatically be covered under FMG’s Exclusive Bull cover for 14 days at no cost to the purchaser.

Length of coverTo extend cover for the specified bull beyond 14 days you need to tick Exclusive Bull cover 12 months on the Purchaser Instruction and Insurance Slip in this catalogue. The specified bull is then covered for the remaining period of 12 months. The premium is payable to FMG and is in addition to the purchase price of the bull.

If you require an alternative cover period talk to an FMG representative.

Your bull’s valueAny bull covered under this policy must be purchased for $50,000 or less. For any bull purchased over $50,000 talk to an FMG representative.

During the period of insurance, the specified animal is covered for:• Death or infertility as a result of accident, disease or illness.

• Transit.

• Theft.

What we will payFair market value of your specified bull, less any amount you receive for the sale of the carcass, up to the amount shown on the insurance certificate.
