Today’s Readings:

Exodus 34: 4b-6, 8-9 2 Corinthians 13: 11-13

John 3: 16-18 Do not let your mind wander during the readings today! Each of them

is very short, so if you are not paying attention you might miss an entire one. You would not want to do that, for in each case a lot is

packed into just a few verses. God reveals the holy name in the first reading. Paul sums up his message to the Corinthians in the second. In the Gospel, Jesus synthesizes Jesus’s entire mission in three short

verses. Let us listen as if each author is speaking directly to us.

Next week’s readings: Deuteronomy 8: 2-3, 14b-16a

1 Corinthians 10: 16-17 John 6: 51-58

COVID-19 Update: Father Johnson continue to offer his daily mass privately for the intentions as requested in the intention book. There are no public masses being said until further notice. No sacraments are to be administered during this period as well. Only in grave situations, may a confession and anointing of the sick be administered. ****************************************************

In Preparation for the reopening of public masses--- Mass as you all remember it will look and feel a little

different when we can gather again. Our very first priority is everyone’s health and safety. Some changes going

forward (hopefully only temporary) will be: 1. Everyone shall bring their own mask and wear it

during the service. 2. Everyone should bring their own hand sanitizer and

use it before entering and upon leaving the church. 3. Social distancing still needs to happen, alternate

pews when seating. 4. No altar servers, no choirs – music can be played and

sung by a cantor if they wish to solo. 5. No hymnals or missalettes will be in pews 6. When receiving communion, wear mask while

receiving, then you may pull it down to place on your tongue.

7. There will be no precious blood, holding hands at the Our Father or shaking hands at the sign of peace.

8. Following Mass or private prayers, please wipe down any surface you may have touched in your pew area. ***Some wipes will be provided, but if possible, please consider bringing your own wipes, sanitizer and masks—this will lessen the expenses to the parish.***

Not Protest, it’s Looting

“There is no need in going back and forth, or fighting, or protesting. It is what it is. This is not the only ‘killing incident’ that has happened in US. People are not protesting but destroying our country. I think, these are not angry, but frustrated people. Actually, there is no need to protest. We have the Law against criminals. If a policeman commits any crime, arrest him and punish him. No need to destroy stores, houses and cars; No need to block the highways and roads. These “Protestors” are asking for justice but at the same time they are doing injustice to others.

New research suggests a culture of bias is a bigger problem than individual racist officers.

When a white police officer fatally shoots or kills a black man, angry acquaintances often assume the tragedy was triggered by a racist cop.

New research reports that, while some officers may be driven by personal prejudice, the bias that can serve as a catalyst for killings is more institutional than individual.

"White officers do not kill black suspects at a higher rate compared with nonwhite officers," concludes a research team led by Charles Menifield, dean of the School of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University–Newark. "The killing of black suspects is a police problem, not a white police problem."

Menifield and his colleagues constructed a database of all confirmed incidents in which deadly force was used by police in the United States during 2014 and 2015. It includes detailed information on both the officer and victim.

Not surprisingly, they found a huge racial disparity when it comes to who gets killed by officers. "While only about 13 percent of the American population is black," they write, "28 percent of people killed by police are Black." But nobody protests after killing.

Blaming racist cops for this problem is emotionally satisfying (it presents a clear villain) and suggests an easy fix (weed them out). But this research suggests the real problem is the entrenched set of biases and as-sumptions that pervade police forces, influencing the attitudes and actions of cops of all colors.

Let us all Pray for George Floyd and the Policeman who killed him.
