Guidelines to follow at St. John Neumann Parish

Congregants should plan on restricted seating, a change in

the reception of Communion in order to ensure social

distancing, and other appropriate measures upon entering

and exiting churches. The dispensation from the obligation to attend

Sunday Mass remains in place. All who are espe-

cially vulnerable or simply uncomfortable attending

a public Liturgy are encouraged to remain at home

and if possible, view Mass via live streams, which

will continue in local parishes.

If you are SICK, stay home and limit your contact with others.

Please be concerned about others.

*Never Forget Sanitizer and Mask when

you come to Church*

Parishioners should bring and be prepared to wear their own

masks and, a bottle of hand sanitizer for use upon entering,

before receiving Communion, after receiving Communion,

and after exiting the church.

Today’s Readings:

Isaiah 55: 6-9 Philippians 1: 20c-24, 27

Matthew 20: 1-16a

Today we hear the parable of the landowner who hires workers for his vineyard throughout the day, some at sunrise, some just before evening. We are those workers. We are called to follow Christ into the fields and make disciples of all nations. We may have been called at an early age, in middle age, or when we are old. But as Christians we are all called to

this mission. To use the words of Paul and Isaiah, may we magnify Christ in our bodies as we call upon the Lord in our midst.

A VOCATION VIEW We make many choices in life. The most important choice

we must make is whether we will follow God’s voice or one

of the many other misleading ones. We cannot choose both!

FAITH FORMATION NEWS We have scheduled our 2020-2021 Faith Formation Kickoff meeting for

September, 20th immediately following the 10:30 am Mass. It is vitally

important that someone from each family (or someone to represent

your family) is present, as we have so much to go over! ***********************************************************

Lectors, Cantor and Eucharistic Ministers We will be working on the next ministry schedule in the next 7-10

days. While Covid has impacted many factors into scheduling, we

are asking that if you do not feel comfortable returning, please

contact the office and advise, we are extremely light on ministers for

the 8:00pm Saturday night mass—so if you can help out there

occasionally that will great help and is usually a lighter attended

mass. One new item that will help out Father, if he has not arrived

before you, please turn on the lights and light the altar candles—he

has mentioned that sometimes people are sitting in the dark when

he gets there. Father really appreciates everyone’s help and

cooperation during this pandemic. This next schedule will take us to

just before Christmas and we will attach a list of ministers, lector and

cantors with their contact numbers for you to arrange for substitutes

if needed.

Ushers We need help to take up collection during the offertory…both men

and women are suitable for this duty. Kindly make sure there are at

least 2, ideally 4 ushers per mass.

Next weekend there is a special collection for “Seminarian and Diaconate Formation”

(formally Christ the King seminary appeal). Please drop your envelope in the regular

collection next weekend.

God is generous

God is generous in opening the doors of his kingdom to all who will enter, both those who have labored a life-time for him and those who come at the last hour. While the reward is the same, the motive for one's labor can make all the difference. Some work only for reward. They will only put in as much effort as they think they will get back. Others labor out of love and joy for the opportunity to work and to serve others. The Lord Jesus calls each one of us to serve God and his kingdom with joy and zeal and to serve our neighbor with a generous spirit as well.

The Lord Jesus wants to fill each one of us with the power and strength of the Holy Spirit so we can bear great fruit for God's kingdom (the fruit of peace, joy, righteousness, and love) and also bring the fruit of his kingdom to our neighbor as well. We labor for the Lord to bring him praise, honor, and glory. And we labor for our neighbor for their welfare with the same spirit of loving-kindness and compassion which the Lord has shown to us.

Paul the Apostle reminds us, "Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not others, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward - you are serving the Lord Christ" (Col 3:23-24). Do we perform our daily tasks and responsibilities with cheerfulness and diligence for the Lord's sake?
