SCOPE This Specification describes HDPE Trash Racks and their use in storm ater mana!ement ponds and basins.

    MATERIAL

The resin used for Structural Plastic Trash Racks is !lass reinforced HDPE "Hi!h DensityPolyethylene#. $ir!in material must be used to insure that all of the e%pected mechanical

properties are maintained throu!hout the life of the Trash Rack. The added ri!idity pro&ided by the !lass fill must meet ma%imum deflection &alues as sho n belo . Inaddition, the !lass content must not cause the material to become brittle e&en in coldtemperatures "'( de!rees )#. The !rid used to manufacture Trash Racks must conform to

    the follo in! mechanical properties*

    UV CONSIDERATIONS

Due to the fact that Trash Racks are continually e%posed to radiation, 0$ protection must be incorporated into the resin to pre&ent premature de!radation of the plastic material. Therefore, the 0$ protection must meet or e%ceed :ST5 D 4;4'77.

    COLORANT CONSIDERATIONS

The colorant must be homo!enous and must not fade, run, discolor or deteriorate hene%posed to sunli!ht and or the elements for the life of the Trash Rack.

    MOUNTING CONSIDERATIONS

Each Trash Rack desi!n must account for both the physical and hydraulic factors that theTrash Rack is e%pected to see durin! its intended product life. 5ountin! locations must

be determined by takin! into account the hydraulic dynamic force factors for eachindi&idual application. )ailure to use the pre'drilled holes "as supplied by themanufacturer# could result in product breakdo n, malfunction and or collapse. :llmountin! hard are "- 39 % -9 stainless steel anchor bolt# is included ith each rack.
