Utilizing RAPID, an artificial intelligence program, along with upgraded CT scanners, we can now treat ischemic stroke patients up to 24 hours after they were last seen normal. Patient Benefits Patients that are outside of the tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) window can be quickly scanned at any Kettering Health Network emergency facility and identified as candidates for clot retrieval. Patients that are identified as needing intervention will be transferred immediately to Kettering Medical Center’s Comprehensive Stroke Center for clot retrieval. RAPID software greatly decreases the time spent in treatment decision and clot retrieval, which will help patients avoid long-term deficits. Patients can receive immediate, lifesaving stroke care in their community at any Kettering Health Network emergency center.
