QUARTETS

A quartet is a musical ensemble of four players. The most common combination is a

classical string quartet – usually two violin players, a violist and a cellist – or a piece

written to be performed by such a group. The string quartet is one of the most

prominent chamber ensembles in classical music, with most major composers, from

the late 18th century onwards, writing string quartets.

Through the years, the quartet has evolved to other possible combinations. In the

Philippines alone, a more common combination is a violinist, a cellist, a keyboardist

and a singer. Some would even combine the group with a flutist or a brass

instrumentalist such as a French horn player or even a trumpet player.

Black Tie Entertainment is home to some of the country’s finest quartets such as the Manila

String Ensemble and the Manila String Machine. Last year, we launched DQ acoustic

-- an acoustic jazz quartet which plays jazz standards that appeal to a younger and

more hip audience.

This year BTE is launching its newest quartet—the Dynasty Strings which is composed of

highly skilled, classically trained string players. The group will be performing popular

classical songs, jazz standards and its main and most unique quality—modern hits

such as songs by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and the like.

Classic unlimited is one of the most in demand string

ensembles in the wedding music industry. Leading the

group is the renowned Violinist Jemay Dadap. A former

member of the now defunct, San Miguel Philharmonic

Orchestra, Jemay has led the group in various corporate

and social events. He is also noted to be one of the few

professional electric violinist in the country today.

Jeanne is the daughter of lyric tenor Noel Velasco and coloratura soprano Zonia Elvas-Velasco

Jeanne’s choral training started at the age of 9 when she joined her brother and two sisters in the University of the Philippines Cherubims and Seraphims under Dr. Flora Zarco-Rivera

Jeanne credits Aileen Espinosa-Cura, Joel Navarro, Jonathan Macarambon, Celine Valdes-Fabella, Zonia Elvas-Velasco and Noel Velasco for her voice training.

Her teaching technique on the other hand is greatly influenced by Eudenice Palaruan, Jonathan Velasco, and Prof. Carmencita Arambulo, pioneer of the Suzuki Method in the Philippines.

As Voice Instructor at Becky Aguila’s Talent Agency, Jeanne is also the voice coach of some GMA Artists as well – Jennylyn Mercado, Ella Guevarra, and Jade Lopez, to name a few.

In 1994, a group composed of young and talented instrumentalists formed a string quartet. As demand for

performances increased, they decided to invite more musicians who share the same passion for chamber music,

thus the birth of The Manila String Ensemble. Most of the members came from the former Manila Chamber

Orchestra, Manila Symphony Orchestra and The San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra. Each member has embarked

on a career in either the music teaching profession in institutions such as the University of the Philippines College

of Music and the St. Scholastica's College of Music, or have attended prestigious music workshops abroad in the

pursuit of further honing their crafts. Two of its members earned their Master's Degree in Music at the San

Francisco State University (Gina Medina) and at the Winthrop University (Mayos Esmilla). Noted clients include
