This is an incredible lure. Just put it in front of a bass and he is going to hit it. “You won’t “0” with a ZERO!” It is heavily salt impregnated for a fast sink rate and the flexibility of the material gives it more action than similar plastic baits on the market. Kevin VanDam’s Super Finesse Worms, Salt Impregnated!: Kevin VanDam says “The Strike King Super FINESSE worms are by far the best worms to use on a Shaky Head jig. Their flexibility and action are greater than any plastic worm can produce.” The 7” version is my go to bait!” The 4” model is impregnated with salt and is a super little worm. It is actually about 4 7/8” long and Mark Rose says, “It is the best drop shot worm on the market.” They will dance on a drop shot rig, are killer on a shaky jig, and awesome when “split-shotting” or “Mojo rigging.” (Fig. 1)

7.5” RIBBON TAIL WORM - Salt Impregnated!: There are lots of ribbon tail worms on the market but none with; more tail action at the slightest movement, more lively action on a Texas Rig (Fig. 4) and more durable, especially in the tail. Our favorite hook is a straight shank worm hook with the little keeper barbs on the shank near the eye. They hold the bait well and keep it in the correct position.

Soft Jerkbaits, the ZULU and ZTOO: These minnow shaped lures are tremendous fish catchers. The ZULU is not salt impregnated so it floats extremely well, even with a large hook. It is great as a topwater “walk-the-dog” and twitch type of lure. It can be rigged weedless and fished over matted grass with great success and is fantastic in open water for schooling fish. It casts well and presents a more subtle action than a hard plastic top water lure. On a jig head it really stands up and can also be effectively Carolina rigged. The Redfish Magic saltwater model’s durability (page 41) makes this the best minnow bait there is to use for the tough and toothy critters in the sea. The ZTOO is impregnated with salt so it is less buoyant. It fishes more like a traditional soft plastic jerkbait and the rate of sink can be varied by the size and weight of the hook. It is the favorite of many anglers and drop-shoting it is a closely guarded secret. The most common way to rig these is weightless Texas style. Popular hooks are Mustad’s Ultra Lock™ and VMC’s Special Rig’n hook. These have an exaggerated “Z” bend in the front which holds the bait on better than hooks with a 90 degree bend (Fig 5).

4” GRUB - Salt Impregnated!!!: The biggest problem with plastic curly tail grubs is that the tail breaks off too easily. Problem solved. Use these and you won’t go back to plastic! For a jighead, the new Tour Grade Shaky Head jigheads work perfectly and are easy to use! Their special barb is perfect for these grubs. (See page 34)

The Elaztech material is much softer and more flexible than plastic and this gives it better action. Minor movements of your rod create life in the lure. Also, the base material floats so lures can be made that actually float for actions not possible with traditional plastic. Different degrees of buoyancy can be obtained by using different compounds and different amounts of salt. Some float, some have neutral buoyancy and some sink. This technology results in better actions and greater versatility than traditional plastic. Advantages of the floatation: Carolina rigs – actually floats the lure off the bottom (Fig 3*), can use larger hooks and shorter leaders which result in more hook-ups, can fish faster to cover more water and still keep the bait up. Texas rigs – the lures are livelier and will stand up when you pause them (Fig 4*). Shaky Head and Drop Shotting (Fig 1*) – tiny movements resonate in the lure and give added attraction. Jig Trailers – Put a Craw on the back of your jig and see how it will stand up your jig like a real crayfish!! Topwater action - with the ZULU for example, you can have a true topwater softbait unlike anything else on the market. Sinking models - those made to sink, like the ZERO, have better action than plastic due to the flexibility. Even though the material is incredibly soft and flexible it is unbelievably strong. It has unprecedented durability over regular plastic lures. Hence, you will catch more fish per lure. No more broken tails from Bream bites or reduced time re-rigging due to torn up baits! In saltwater fishing, nothing even compares - they are absolutely the best soft baits on the market for saltwater fishing. Note that as the percentage of salt is increased the material is not as strong but even models with the most salt are still much stronger than plastic baits. Your hook point and barb will go through the material easily. They cut through it but it doesn’t rip up like plastic. It may take a little practice to rig the bait straight on your hook. If you mess up and want to try again don’t worry, you won’t hurt it by rigging it multiple times. In summary, these are revolutionary soft baits due to; the extra action, softness, flexibility, durability, and the specifically formulated floatation characteristics of each model. When fish grab a bait made out of this material, they really hold on. The result is that you will catch more fish! CAUTION: Do not mix with or store these in the same bag with regular soft plastic baits because the two materials will dissolve when stored together. It is best not to store in direct sunlight. Also, some dyes on the market may negatively affect it (weaken it). Try your dye on one first to see before you dye others.

Flat ShadThe Flat Shad has a flat sided body which gives it a tight wiggle action and is designed to

dive 3-5 feet deep. It really imitates a fleeing or nervous bait fish. This crankbait is unlike

others and can really make a difference in catch rates, especially in clear or pressured waters.

Strike King's Custom Shop is introducing a Limited Edition series of handmade premium

Balsa lures. They have custom made circuit board chips for the bills which is thinner than

a traditional plastic bill that allows the bait to run deeper and have flex properties that

enhance deflection off of cover, yet are extremely durable. The paint is hand brushed

and has a multi-coated sealant for look and durability. Top quality VMC Vanadium cone

cut hooks are used and the line tie is an oval split ring that ensures that the knot is tied

at the strongest point and also contributes to the action. The bodies are Premium balsa

wood and each model is specifically designed for maximum performance. These are Elite

We interviewed our Pro Fishing Team and they wanted a lure that would “spit” and “spray” more than those available on the market.
