DIAMOND INDUSTRY PROFILE The diamond industry consists of segments that mine, processes

and markets gem diamonds and industrial diamonds. It takes an average of 250 tons of mined ore to produce one carat of

finished diamond. 92% of diamond pieces cut in 2014 were in Surat, Gujarat, India. A single company, De Beers, controls a significant proportion of the

production and trade in diamonds. The Diamond Trade Company (the distribution arm of De Beers)

sorts and distributes 45% of the world’s rough diamond supply.

Problem Statement

• The selected topic is “To study stress management of employees at Shree Ram Krishna Exports Pvt. Ltd.”

To know how employees react to stress and what Company take initiatives to manage stress is a area of concern.

Research Objective

• To identify the potential sources of stress.• To identify the consequences of stress.• To know the ways that company uses to manage stress. • To know about the satisfaction level of employer’s practices.

Research design• In this study research used Descriptive research.

Type of sample design• The method used for sampling is non probability Convenient

Sampling.

Population size• Total 3500 employees are working in SRK Exports Pvt. Ltd.

Sample size• 25 respondents not willing to fill the questionnaire. So sample size

reduced to 325 instead of 350.

Time period of Research• Time period of almost semester III and semester IV of MBA .i.e.

from August, 2014 to April, 2015.

Area of Research• This research is undertaken within ‘Employees of SRK from SRK

Empire, Surat.

Data collection method:• Primary data: Instrument- Questionnaires• Secondary data: Internet, Magazines,Journals,Company brochures

Tools For analysis of data• Percentage method • ONE WAY -ANOVA Test

Limitations of the Study

• The convenient sampling technique has its own limitations.• Many times responses in questionnaire were incomplete and biased so

it may not represent accuracy in study.• Some of the respondents of the survey were unwilling to share personal

information.• 25 respondents not willing to fill the questionnaire. So sample size

reduced to 325 instead of 350.• The authorities were hesitant to hand over the Filled Questionnaire

back to us. So we have entered data visiting the Company Premises only.

o Depressed Mood, Loss Of Interest, Loss/Increase In Weight, Sleep Disorder, Loss Of Energy, Fatigue, Anxiety , Irritability With More Than 40% Occasionally Been Noticed Which Is Found From Respondents.o Palpitations And Accelerated Heart Rate, Sweating , Chest Pain Are Consequences that are Less (Say 20%) felt By Respondents.

Sources of Stress o Shift Work With 65% , Low Salary 55%, Very Heavy Work Load 48%, Poor Supervision 48% , Job Insecurity 47% , Under Utilization of Skills 48.3% Impersonal Treatment 46.2%,uncertain/Undefined Job Expectation 46.5%, Problem With Co-worker 46.5%.

Satisfaction Level Regarding Employer’s

Practices

o Neutral Regarding Health & Safety Practices, Work Life Balance Practices, Employee Recognition Practices, Involvement In Decision Making & Problem Solving, Recognition Of Efforts, Flexibility In Working Hours, Growth & Advancement Opportunities provided by SRK Exports.o 32% and 18.8% Respondents are Satisfied and Dissatisfied with employer’s Practices Respectively..

Stress Management Intervention Educational

Interventionso 70% & 58% of the respondents feels that they are been informed about the sources of stress & informed about how to avoid stress.

Skill Acquisition Interventions

o Time management and proper training are accordingly done by Employer is 44% and 45% Respectively.

Employee wellness program

o According to Respondents, EWP such as supervised exercise classes, free utilization of fitness centers, training on how to properly perform physical work tasks occasionally.

Heath Promotion Program (HPP)

o SRK use Interventions to manage stress in HPP such as Control on Hypertension, Health Care Programs for Family Members also and also provide onsite Health education Programs.

Additional Findings through Observation SRK has set up various institutes and played a pivotal role in promoting women’s education. SRK have face-to-face interaction with employees to improve their work efficiency and relationships. SRK encourages extra-curricular activities like celebrating festivals, Sports, Environment friendliness and Tree-plantation, Career guidance, External examinations, Music, Karate Cultural programmes, Conferences, Cleanliness drives, Science-fair and much more.

CONCLUSION

• The enormous human and economic costs associated with occupational stress suggest that initiatives designed to prevent and/or reduce employee stress should be high on the agenda of workplace health promotion programs.

• Wide - ranging types of interventions may be considered.

RECOMMENDATIONS

• Encouraging more of organizational communication.• Employee counselling is a very good strategy to

overcome employee stress.• Employees should be given flexibility in hours so that

there would be more effective productivity increase by them.

• Give employees opportunities to participate.• Reducing stress will allow for a better work

environment.• Stress is inevitable
