According to the Kansas Communities that Care survey, 46.73% of Kansas students

reported that they have a low commitment to school. Now more than ever, it is essential

that schools and teachers have the resources and training to make meaningful connections

with the students, create an engaging learning environment, and use self-care to manage

job related stress to avoid burnout. Arts Partners is convening a symposium of local and

national experts to provide strategies to address these important issues by strengthening

social emotional learning through arts integration.

Arts integration engages diverse learners through music, dance, poetry, visual art and

drama to understand and express their learning of curriculum concepts through the arts.

Now arts integration isn’t just for the art teacher, these strategies can be incorporated by

all educators from early childhood to 12th grade as well as school support staff.

In addition to the hands-on workshops for 1st-12th grade educators, there will be sessions

specifically for Kindergarten and preschool educators, sponsored by The Wolf Trap

Institute of Early Learning Through the Arts. For school administrators, we invite you to

join us to hear information about the research, policy and title funding for arts integration

in your district.

We hope to see you at the Just Add Arts: Arts Integration Symposium in Wichita at West

High School, July 24-26, 2019. The symposium is made possible through the support of our

lead sponsor, The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission.

Registration is now open at http://bit.ly/JUSTADDARTS2019

Please post and share the attached flyer with your district and colleagues.

There are a limited number of scholarships available. If you know of individuals who show
