A good example of our curiosity is our new streaming audio models that take digital audio files from your computer network and let you stream them into any room in your home with breathtaking clarity. Anyone who knows of Cyrus would expect our audio systems to sound special but they may be surprised just how good this new technology can sound. We are excited by the idea of streaming because on one hand streaming is very convenient; on the other hand it has the potential to deliver even better sound quality than CD, and for anyone who has grown up loving music that’s very appealing indeed!

So far the technologies that make streaming possible have been clumsy to use, but now Cyrus has developed an exceptional handset called n‑remote that makes streaming as easy as 1,2,3. The n‑remote lets you navigate your network music collection, your audio system, internet radio, TV and even your satellite box, all from one innovative handset. To make all this intuitive, hidden behind the easy to use n‑remote are many state-of-the-art technologies that we have harnessed to deliver stunning audio. Additionally we have created our very own iOS App called “Cyrus Cadence” allowing you via your iPad to control your streamer and browse your music library.

There are four models to choose from in the range, all based on our new high performance streaming engine and each developed to satisfy different needs. The first model is Stream XP₂ Qx and this is the Gold Standard for audiophile hi-fi systems of the future. This is followed by the Stream XP₂, which retains the preamp section but omits the advanced Qx DAC card so you can add this to an existing audio system that already includes a DAC. The third model is called Streamline₂. Based on the core Stream XP₂ modules, it includes everything you need with the exception of loudspeakers to provide an extraordinary single box audio system. Finally the Stream X₂ contains all the high performance streaming technology of Cyrus but is for the traditional hi-fi enthusiast who is looking for a digital streaming source to add to their system.

In addition to amazing sound, our research showed that customers expect these high-tech products to be easy to operate. To date the technologies that make streaming possible have been awkward to use. At Cyrus we like to do things differently, so to overcome this concern, we set about not only developing an exceptional streaming platform but also a unique and stylish control interface. The result is the superb network enabled handset control we have called n‑remote. The n‑remote makes streaming quick, easy and pleasurable. Additionally we’ve created “Cyrus Cadence” our very own bespoke iOS app allowing full streamer control via your iPad, iPhone or similar with no limitations in functionality.

n‑remote is a special two way control unit that makes browsing your networked music library simple, whilst also giving you full control of your streamer at the touch of a button. It also has an infra-red learning capability, so that it can swiftly learn to control other products in your home, making this a truly flexible handset. The direct RF (radio frequency) link from the n‑remote provides a robust connection to your streamer, allowing fast and reliable control. The Stream X2 is based on the Stream XP2 but without the preamp section. This model is the perfect source to add to a Cyrus system that already includes a DAC such as our range of XPd integrated amplifiers and preamplifiers. It can also be partnered with the flagship DAC XP+ to create a ‘purist’ digital source.

The joy of streaming music

Streaming music is very convenient. With modern day storage devices such as NAS drives, your entire CD collection can be stored on one small compact unit and with the n‑remote and Cyrus Cadence iOS App you can quickly find the track or album you want, when you want it.

Your music can be stored in several different file formats, but for original CD quality, WAV files are highly recommended. This format provides 1:1 data transfer, so your music remains uncompressed and as good as the original CD source. In the future it is likely that artists and record companies will release higher than CD quality downloadable music. Rest assured though that Cyrus streaming music players are already equipped to handle sample rates of 192Khz, so you are well positioned to enjoy this format as it becomes available in the future.

In addition to enjoying all of your music in your network music library, you can also access thousands of internet radio stations via TuneIn Radio. Whether your preference is for music, talk, news or sports, you can listen to stations from all over the world.

How easy is it to install your streaming player?

Cyrus approved retailers are trained to install a network for you that will make the connection between your computer and the streaming player. Once this is done all you have to do is to save copies of your music collection in a suitable way. Our website has lots of advice how to get the best from this new format.

All Cyrus solutions will stream your music wirelessly; however we recommend a wired connection if possible as this will provide the best performance, especially when playing uncompressed music. Uncompressed files sound best and you will clearly appreciate the improvement in quality.

If you are a reasonably confident computer user then you should be able to install these units with relative ease. Alternatively, Cyrus retailers are fully trained and are there to help you. They are happy to setup and install your new system, plus assist with any network components you may need for a modest additional charge.
