Localization Dilemmas – The Initial Years

I have to instruct my

French user to enter a value for

Siret number.

Should I assume the user knows what Siret means?

Should I not use the French text?

The guideline says I must use the acronym expansion on first usage.

I can’t check-in my topic with French text flagged as spelling errors!!!

But the expansion is in French!

Tool Implementers Dilemmas

that’s an English word. Oh right!

Siret is in French! Really???

But we are a global company with writers across the globe?

US customers don’t want to see British English or vice versa. Canada uses a mix of US and British spellings.

Can I allow only some writers to use non-English terms?

What if other global writers get away with spelling errors?

Siret is a spelling error in English, it should not be allowed!
