STRATEGIC VISION• The increasing use of powerful IT services in all sectors is
leading to a growing energy demand for data centers:
− accounts for 120B kWh in the US alone, and ~3% of total
energy consumption worldwide
− will lead to a 2X of energy requirements within 5 years, increasing
energy costs and relevant carbon footprint of data centers.
• The implementation of energy-efficient technologies and
optimized HW/SW operations however allows energy, cost and
carbon emission reductions of up to 60%.
• Given the compelling global nature of this topic, E4C works with
companies across all industries, segments and geographies
which build/own/run highly-virtualized data centers.

E4C Technology in a NutshellThe data center manager assigns and migrates VMs to servers based on local probabilistic trials:
• Lightly and highly loaded servers tend to reject VMs
• Servers with intermediate load tend to accept VMs
• Eventually, the workload is distributed to a low number of highly utilized servers
