0bjective Given the magnitude of blindness and the challenges

faced in a developing country , the Govt. alone cannotmeet the health needs of all.

Dr. Venkataswamy wanted to establish an alternatehealth care model that would supplement the effortsof the Govt. and also be self supporting. Hence uponhis retirement in 1976 , he established the Trust toinitiate eye care work.

Under this trust AEH were founded.

By keeping the government in the loop for major decisions theAravind model believes in integration of thoughts from leaders

and health experts across the globe.

Aravind believe in their core spiritual value that indirectly affects

the political systems of the States .

    ECONOMIC-

The model has managed to create a sizeable impact in the

domains of eye care especially in the southern states of India. It has indirectly affected the economy of the State whereinthe poor save on their cost of healing and become moreproductive in their work cycles.

    SOCIAL-

The model has managed to spread free eye care in the health

sector, thereby building a lot of social and regional bonding.

Through its multiple training programs, workshops, and health

camps, the Aravind Model continues to shine and spread the joy

    of eliminating blindness all around.

    CULTURAL -

The cultural impact that the module has had widespread

implications in the middle India whose power we have seldom

ignored. It has not only created a strong cultural hold for

Aravind, but it has also redefined the power of local recruits and

traineeship that helps create connections between the doctors

and patients, a bond that is rare to find in the health domain.

    Future of Organization

Despite millions of recovered patients, one ofAravinds biggest obstacles to date is reaching nearly70% of its patients in rural southern India. Many ofthe most need based patients must walk miles andspare entire work days in order to visit an Aravindcamp or hospital. Mobile clinics have been launched, but they require local sponsors to host them. How canAravind eye services better reach the rural poor? Howcan modern technological advances help to solvethis dilemma?
