ASSEMBLY

Fagioli operates a range of Jacks from 15 to 750 tonnes capacity each based upon lift cablesof 1 to 50 strands of 18mm diameter, 7 wire die -compacted, prestressing strand of guaran-teed minimum breaking load of 38 tonnes per strand. Jacks are hydraulically powered andmay be used singularly, in pairs, or in groups to give any lifting capacity required.

Strand jacks are used in the following industries:- Civil Engineering- Offshore (Fabrication Yards and Offshore Sites)- Petro-chemical & Refinery- Power Generation

STRAND

Vitally important to strand jacks are the 18mm diameter standard strands, formed from sevenwires wound together forming a helix. After winding they are drawn through a die to compactand harden them. The resulting strand has a guaranteed ultimate tensile strength of 38 tonnesand a factor of safety of 2.5 is normally applied to give the safe working load of 15 tonnes.Other factors of safety have been used from 2.0 (short term load during a pulling operation)to 9.0 (inside a nuclear containment area) but 2.5 has been adopted as the industry norm.

REMOTE CONTROL

To enable the simultaneous operation of up to20 jack jacks a single remote control computercan be used. Multiple linked computers areused for more than 20 jacks to ensure totalsynchronisation of the system.The system features are:

- Lift and load sensitive detection- Overload detection- Lift counting- Adjustable equalisation of jack strokes during operation

POWER PACKS

Power packs provide the oil to the jacks and can be powered by diesel engine or electricmotor. All power packs have direct, panel mounted, monitoring and control systems.Further electronic monitoring can display number of lift strokes completed and individualstoke positions at each jack.Similar control and monitoring facilities can also be positioned remote from the power packto fully computerised systems, including automatic lifting and lowering capabilities.Maximum pumping pressure, hence jack lifting force, can be pre-set or altered at will by pres-sure control valves on the panel.

TOWERLIFT SYSTEMThe original (or first generation) Towerliftwas developed by Fagioli in the 1980sand has stood the test of time in that wewere still manufacturing new sections asrecently as 2004. It was developed as anextremely heavy duty structural supportsystem for use with Strand Jacks.

It was specifically designed in modularform for ease of assembly, erection andworldwide transportation.In its basic formit is assembled from only two members –legs and bracings.

Bracings are connected to the legs bymeans of a single pin at each end. Twoconnection points are provided on all legsso that the same members may be as-sembled in either three-leg triangular offour-leg square format towers.Because of its unrivalled versatility as a temporary structure Towerlift can be usedin different ways to produce the most eco-nomical lifting arrangement.

Typical lifting arrangements includes:

- Two towers with crosshead beams; - Four towers with crosshead beams;- Two towers with cantilever beams; - Independent inclined towers;- Paired luffing towers.

In addition most of these arrangementshave been used with both triangular andsquare format towers and in guyed andunguyed configurations

- Heavy duty structural support for use withstrand jacks;

TOWERLIFT SYSTEM

TOWERLIFT SYSTEM - GENERATION 2The second generation Towerlift was developed to copewith today's increased lift weights. The new system in-cludes the following features:

- 3,000 tonnes lifting capacity using a four tower unguyedsystem to a height of 120m. Heights in exceding 120mcan be reached but the capacity will reduce. Likewise forshort tower height the capacity will increase.

- Work and rest platforms at frequent intervals andcaged ladders to comply with the latest health and safetyrequirements.

The Generation 2 Towerlift system has the same basicstructure – legs and bracings – as the original systemand can be used in identical arrangements but with in-creased capacity.
