Teme Class

What a fun first day we had on Tuesday, building a campfire and roasting marshmallows at Forest School. We carried out little investigations with ice, to see how we could change it into a liquid. We have two more sessions booked for Tuesday 14th and 21st January 2020.

This first part of the term we are looking at the topic ‘People who help us in our community’. If any parents or relatives would like to come in and talk about their career or how they help in the community, our Reception class would enjoy the chance to practice their questioning skills. In our role play area, we have created a doctor’s surgery.

Look at the independent writing we found.

Does anybody have an old, no longer needed/working, corded telephone they would like to donate to our role play, please ?

Pawscars 2020 It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Stottesdon Primary school’s very own Maisie Allenby has been nominated for this year’s ‘Junior of the year’ at the PAWSCARS (which is the Dog showing world’s equivalent to the Oscars). It is a great achievement to receive a nomination and Maisie is one of the youngest to be nominated and is now in the final four. Voting has started and Maisie would be very grateful to receive any votes for her in the junior section (one vote per person) – this

can be done at the PAWSCAR website in the ‘Vote Now for 2020’ section at www.thepawscars.org.uk. Many thanks and please vote for Maisie.

New Year Resolution Happy New Year everyone! As we begin 2020, it would be great to see pupils in full school uniform and looking smart please. This is important as it is always less distracting in learning and less competitive. Earrings should be plain studs. No nail varnish. Hair bobbles should be a plain and simple hair bobble (preferably in school colours) - no fashion items please—one or two are currently more suitable for out of school!

Severn Class Congratulations to all the year 6 children who attended

the STEM morning at Lacon for their excellent behaviour and team work. Well done to Natasha,

Ruby, Adam, Daisy, Mia and Elsie whose team won

the challenge to build a stadium.

SATs club: From next

Tuesday Mrs McKay will be holding weekly SAT

booster sessions after school (3:15 – 4:15). Please let the office know if you would like your child to

attend.

There is a SATs revision book which Mrs McKay recommends – if parents would like to order a copy please pay online via squid by 24th January 2020. We will then be able to order copies through the school @ £2.50 which will be cheaper than ordering privately.

Stottesdon Gateway Nursery

Welcome back after the Christmas break. Our topic this half term is ’People Who Help Us’. We will be looking at postal workers, police officers, doctors/nurses, vets and fire fighters.

Talk for Writing: The Gingerbread Man

Nursery Rhyme of the Week: Days of the Week

If you received a funding form to complete last term, please could these be returned as soon as possible, to secure your funding.

PE Sessions: From next week, we will be introducing PE sessions once a week for our older nursery children (those attending school in September 2020). We will be practicing getting changed for PE independently, please provide shorts/tracksuit bottoms and trainers in a labelled bag.

Changes to the Green Home Diaries:As our nursery sessions are getting busy, we are having to adapt the way we complete your child’s green home diary. We will limit the written information in the home diary to be brief notes, as and when required for e.g. accidents / letters / forms / events. We will check the home dairies for any information or notes from yourselves.

At the end of your child’s session, we will continue to provide a detailed verbal report of your child’s day at nursery. Please feel free to ask us as many questions. Your child’s keyworker will update tapestry (weekly) with evidence of your child’s learning at SGN. There will also be a notice board by the peg area, with daily activity and menu information displayed.
