Flagman
Source: National OHS CommissionWork related deaths of road-workers 1989-1992
A road gang of labourers were carrying out flagmans duties, directing traffic, at roadworks on a highway near a bridge.
There was one car already stopped at the stop sign when asemi-trailer travelling behind this car failed to see the stopsign and veered to the incorrect side of the road.
The semi-trailer then side-swiped a vehicle travelling in theopposite direction, and then continued on to hit three otherstationary vehicles (two being table top trucks).
The semi-trailer then collided with the rear of the car that wasstopped at the flagmans stop sign and also hit the flagman.
