● Had open-source software featured in Computer Vignanam Telugu Computer magazine (December 2006) in India – distribution of about 35,000 copies

● Recipient of the 2007 Canadian Millennium Excellence Award (provincial level) with a $16,000 scholarship for outstanding community initiatives and commitment to education

● Featured in a full front-page Montreal Gazette newspaper article (business section) on May 21st 2007, which went across Canada in various other city newspapers including in Ottawa and Victoria

About a year ago, I recommended Stewart Adam to become the youngest Community Manager of FedoraForum.org, one of the largest Forums in all of Linux. Stewart had impressed me not only with his maturity, far beyond his years, but with his great abilities in programming, problem-solving and working with people until their issues were completely resolved.

In the two years since Stewart joined FedoraForum.org, he has greatly helped the members with twenty three instructional guides as well as software that has become indispensable for many purposes such as backing up systems and file editing. Most recently, he has further branched out to assist the Fedora team by maintaining key graphics programs.

These achievements would be enough for most people, however Stewart has also maintained a school curriculum and an enterprising software company at the same time, plus taking the time to log in nearly 6000 responses to members' questions in FedoraForum.org

It has been an honor to work with Stewart at the Forum and to recognize that his contributions in the future will certainly eclipse his great accomplishments to date.

To whom it may concern,

It is a great pleasure for me to write this letter of recommendation for Stewart Adam. I first met Stewart when he came to work as a volunteer consultant for an integrated science and technology project at St. George’s School of Montreal. At the time, I was working with another teacher to put together a Robotics project for a fifth grade class, and Stewart’s knowledge of the technology, coupled with an intuitive sense for solid pedagogy, proved an extraordinary asset. Stewart brought insight, perspective and a healthy dose of realism to the project and he shared his thoughts with a confidence and maturity well beyond his years.

For the following two years, I frequently consulted with Stewart on a number of projects. Stewart readily gave up his free time to come to St. George’s School to work as an assistant in the technology department. He regularly did research and prepared materials to supplement the Technology program being taught, assisted students and even taught several whole group lessons.

Stewart’s willingness to go “above and beyond” quickly became apparent as he expanded his activities to troubleshooting systems and network for teachers outside the computer lab, and assisting the school’s technicians. Through extensive research, he proposed a variety of original solutions to help improve productivity.

As an educator, I was particularly impressed with Stewart’s keen sense for sound pedagogical practices. He applied what he’d learned and when he didn’t know, his intuition saw him through. Combining his most remarkable technological competency with his good sense of pedagogy, Stewart proposed an innovative assessment and reporting tool based on rubrics. In keeping with technological trends, Stewart’s solution was web based, thus allowing teachers to access it from anywhere in the world. His tool incorporated key elements of the Quebec Education Program while remaining flexible enough to be adapted for use in any classroom.

Stewart’s passion for technology is evidenced by the time and care he invests in learning new skills and keeping abreast of current research and trends. His extensive knowledge of programming, networking and systems administration is, for the most part, self-taught.

His technological skills easily match those of experienced technicians, to which he adds a good grasp of educational practices. I continue to rely on Stewart for advice in both fields of pure technology as well as educational technology.

I recommend Stewart without reserve for any program in which he is interested in participating. It is an absolute delight to work with someone who has a both outstanding skills and an engaging personality. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Specifications:● Client desired new website to showcase products● Required a cost-efective e-commerce platform● Payment had to occur after checkout due to varying shipping costs

Solution:● Created a customized, multi-lingual Drupal installation with Ubercart● Product catalog displayed available as list or in a gallery, by category● Customers submit an order request, shipping costs are estimated and

customer then accepts any pays or declines the updated order

Event: Dawson College Peace Garden Fundraiser

Specifications:● To launch a student-driven website that would serve as an information

vehicle and fundraising tool for Dawson College● Website had to be launched within two weeks

Solution:● Created a customized, multi-lingual Drupal installation● Wrote a custom module with a database interface to automatically total

donations received● Wrote a custom module for a the “donation wall” page which allowed site

visitors to easily leave messages of support and encouragement for the students
