Your Weekly Parish Offering We thank you for your con nuing support of St. Norbert Parish. For the fiscal year July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020, our parish budget calls for $26,700 to be donated weekly at the Sunday collec on in order for the parish to cover opera ng costs. Weekly collec ons that are less than $26,700 require the use of our reserve account to pay our opera ng expenses. The collec on total for Sunday, July 28 was $25,693. These opera ng costs for the parish include building and grounds maintenance, ministry and program support, salaries and office expenses. Using Our Time Wisely A jar of honey lasts prac cally forever. The oldest jar of honey ever discovered was over five thousand years old. Honey is quite different from market-fresh produce, then; because most fruits and vegetables last only a few days, we treat them carefully. At this me of summer, we rush to find recipes for cherries and cucumbers so we won’t waste a single one. We wouldn’t feel that same urgency about honey.

In our own way, we are as deligh ul and fragile as ripe produce. Today’s readings urge us not to spoil, but to make good use of our limited me on earth. Ecclesiastes reminds us that because God provides for us now and always, we can manage our daily affairs without anxiety. Saint Paul encourages the Colossians to keep thoughts of heaven in everything they do, and Jesus himself asks us to treasure not earthly wealth, but God alone.

Altar Server Training and Retraining Altar Server training for new servers will be held on Saturday, August 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the church. In order to begin altar serving, students must have been bap zed, completed First Holy Communion, and be (at least) in the 3rd grade. For experienced servers, this is a mandatory retraining! Tech Ministry Needs People In June 2017, St. Norbert Parish developed the Tech Ministry to serve the liturgical assembly by displaying texts for hymns and prayers on the screens in the church. As part of this ministry, various people from the community have been needed to create the slides, set up the equipment, and advance the slides during Mass. Thanks to the wonderful spirit of service from a handful of parishioners, we have been able to staff and manage this ministry. However, more people are needed to help with the remote clicker that advances the slides during Mass. This is an easy way to serve your brothers and sisters at St. Norbert by helping them to par cipate more fully in the liturgy. There is no experience needed, and training will be provided. You can be part of a team for the mass you normally a end and be scheduled once a month. Monday Morning Bible Study is presen ng The Ascension Press Study First Corinthians for the fall session. The conflicts of the early Chris ans in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Chris ans. They too witnessed division, scandal, immorality, persecu on and other trials. In response, St. Paul taught the Corinthians about the Church as the Body of Christ, introducing them to the most powerful gi of all: the Eucharist.

La miel es muy diferente de cualquier otro alimento producido; entonces porqué muchas frutas y vegetales sòlo duran unos pocos días si las cuidamos. En este empo del verano, nos apresuramos a encontrar recetas para cerezas y pepinos para no desperdiciar ni uno solo. Pero no tendríamos la misma prisa para la miel.

En nuestra propia manera, somos como una de esas frutas y vegetales frágiles y maduros. Las lecturas de hoy nos sugieren a no echarnos a perder, sino a hacer un buen uso de nuestros limitado

empo en la erra. El libro del Eclesiastés nos recuerda que ya que Dios provee para nosotros ahora y siempre, podemos administrar nuestros asuntos diarios sin ninguna ansiedad. San Pablo anima a los colosenses a mantener pensamientos del cielo en todo lo que hacen y Jesús mismo nos pide que no atesoremos riqueza terrenal sino sòlo a Dios.

R.I.C.A. ¿Qué significa R.I.C.A.? El Rito de Iniciación Cris ana para Adultos es un proceso de dos años en donde se van conociendo las Sagradas Escrituras, y haciéndolas parte de nuestro diario vivir. Al mismo empo nos preparamos para recibir los sacramentos de iniciación (Bau zo, Confirmación, Primera Comunión), o los sacramentos de Primera Comunión y Confirmación.
