Stepping Into Internship Program - Position DescriptionThe Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses.

Position Overview
Systems Engineering & Operations
This role will involve gaining experience in different positions across the Systems Engineering & Operations Innovation Labs which will be aligned to the intern’s focus and area of study.
The main objective of the internship is to build knowledge and competencies aligned to nbn’s competency framework through on the job experience, exposure to critical experience/projects and formal training and development; preparing them to transition into a future role in their career. For the duration of the internship (4-6 weeks) this will be managed through two assignments, in which the intern is expected to be an active member of functional teams.
Throughout the program, the intern will build a foundational understanding of the areas and functions in which they work, how they contribute to the broader organisational objectives, and how they are connected to the wider business. The intern will be given the opportunity to work on actual business projects to develop technical skills and build competencies throughout each assignment.
The intern will be supported by senior managers, developers, researchers and buddies throughout the internship, have access to continuous business and professional skills development, and also be part of the Software Engineering Operations community.
The intern may assist on a variety of problems, depending on the timing of the assignment. In general terms:
Explore potential solutions for business problems that leverage Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Big Data in Cloud Computing environments
Prototype a technical / software-based solution to challenging business problems
Design front end of technical solutions

Contribute to research of new technologies / techniques
This position requires intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
Ideal Degree/Discipline
Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, IT or Computer Science Engineering
Eligibility Requirements
Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
Permanent residents and Australian citizens only
Identify as having disability
Candidates may be required to undergo a background check security clearance
