The WAIO Finance team is based in BHP’s Perth office in Western Australia and is made up of the Financial Planning & Analysis (P&A) and Finance Business Partnering (FBP) teams who together provide financial insight to functional and operational stakeholders in an efficient and effective manner. The team:
• Leads the business to value based decisions in an uncertain world using Planning and Analytics to ensure the value of business decisions are clear
• Advocates for value generation, through robust analysis of data and the development of robust financial plans
• Provides insight through analytics, providing guidance to investment decisions and identifying opportunities for improvement
Tasks
• Supporting Finance in continuously improving it effectiveness through integrated fit-for purpose Data analytics processes.

• Supporting the function in delivering data driven solutions to improve the businesses operation and financial performance.
• Apply innovative data wrangling and analysis techniques to identify and collate data
• Keep up to date with latest trends and best practices in data analytics.
• Uses analytics models, systems and tools to ensure an optimal approach in delivering business requests that drives process efficiency and standardisation.
• Works with FBPs and Data scientists to collect and process inputs to 5YP, 2YB and quarterly forecasts, focusing on driving performance to benchmarks
• Analyses outputs of 5YP, 2YB and quarterly forecasts for variability and improvement opportunities.
• Discuss and present ideas, results and recommendations to internal stakeholders
Skillsets
• Graduate degree (Finance, Data Science, Commerce, Engineering, Statistics) with preference for Masters or MBA
• Understanding the key issues in related disciplines including legal, tax, treasury, accounting/reporting, corporate governance, investor relations and risk management
• Demonstrated commercial/operational thinking
• Make value based business decisions for a commercial return
• Ability to work with technical subject matter experts and quickly grasp technical problems / complex issues and synthesise into business cases and analyses
• Problem solving
