STEP 6. Incomparability problem and solution or how to change specs.

Some time we get message

Why is it happened? It is happening when we trying to create components. Let’s check specs. First we have to check default Specs. From main menu Settings Default Specs.

So we have Spec – A3B-TRA. (TRA – I thinks is from word “Training”). A3B – means – ANSI 300 lb pressure. Initially we have next picture.



Let’s check specification of Pipe. From main menu select Modify Pipe Specification.

As you can see Pipe has Spec – A3B-TRA. Now we will check spec of Branch. From main menu select Modify Branch Specification.



As you can see Pipe has Spec – A3B-TRA. So all of them same. Let’s complete branch creation.

Select Nozzle for Head.

Select Tail and select Nozzle for it.



Select other Nozzle. Now you can see dashed line of preliminary route of pipe.

Let’s remember from Step 4. That both of nozzles have specs A150. That is different than specs of pipe and branch. Click on Branch and select it. It became green (selected).



From main menu Create Component. Select Forward and Autoconn. In list on left side select Assembly. (This steps explained in previous Step 5).

Click Create.



Click Apply.

We received message about Incompatibility problem. Let’s continue.

OK.



As you can see we have problem with gasket and flange location. Let’s solve it. First delete gasket and flange. We have to change pipe in according equipment specs. If equipment already exists it means it designed to required pressure. So nozzles spec is OK. Let’s change default and Pipe specs to match with Nozzle spec. First change default spec. New components will be automatically created with this (default) spec. From main menu select Settings Default spec.

Nozzles spec is A150, but Default – A3B-TRA. Let’s change it to A150.



Let’s check pipe spec. Select from main menu Modify Pipe Specifications.



Currently is A3B-TRA. Select A150 and click Apply. Delete gasket and flange. Select by cursor flange or gasket to find it in Design explorer. Select them one by one and make right click and selected Delete.



You will receive common window for confirmation.



So we have clean branch.



We forget to change branch specifications. Let’s check pipe spec. Select from main menu Modify Branch Specifications.

Change to A150.

Apply. Now let’s try to create flange and gasket. From main menu Create Component.



Select Forward and Autoconn. In list on left side select Assembly. Click Create.

Select Gasket Flange to Head. Click Apply.



Select required type and click OK.

So….. We did it without any error message. Let’s do same for Tail of Branch. Same way to call component creation.



Click Create.

Select Gasket Flange to Tail. Click Apply.



Again no probs. So…. We solved our problem with incompatibility. Try this by making different specs and solve it as described here. Good luck.
