STEP 5 - ADDITIONAL AFFIRMATION EXAMPLES Mental Toughness Training © 2019 When I am at my best, ____________________________________________ I am control the channel I focus on what I control I focus on the shift in front of me I focus on actions and process I move my feet relentlessly I make good breakout passes I get shots through from the point I have good body position and gaps I play the body and finish my hits One on one I am unbeatable I clear the zone I box out and control the net front I have an active stick I play stick on puck I am deceptive with and without the puck I am anticipating and pouncing on opportunities I use cutbacks and the back of the net to create offense I get the puck to the D and beat my guy net front in the OZ I find the shanny spots and sneak behind their guys in the OZ I am punching pucks and keeping them moving I drive the net hard I protect the puck with my body over the puck I am attacking and smooth I have great jump I rip pucks on net I am relentless on the forecheck and backcheck The more I hit the better I get I get stronger, tougher, sharper with each shift I set guys up and provide great support of the puck carrier I am composed and in control I take what the game gives me I talk on the ice and communicate with my teammates I make hard, crisp passes on the tape or to an area I move my feet and jump into the play I hound the puck carrier on the back-check I use my skating skills to angle the puck carrier and pounce on him I close on my opponent quickly taking away his time and speed I finish hits but don’t run around chasing hits I get in the shot lane and sacrifice my body “getting big low” I stay disciplined and take a hit or cheap shot for the team I stay heels to paint and box out in our DZ and net front I am relentless for an entire shift and make great changes I stay positive and in the moment I keep the game simple I prepare myself well I am the most physically dominant player on the ice, a perfect grinder that brings toughness, tenacity, unrelenting work ethic, and a simple yet extremely effective approach to every shift. I intimidate with my relentless physical play. Every opponent will be aware of when and where I am on the ice or they risk getting injured. I play the game hard and clean because I respect the game and my opponent. 01

Some players find it helpful to have one word that they use to energize or one word to center and calm…it helps them naturally adjust into their power channel.

Directions: Choose 2 from each section. Post them in your locker. Write them on your stick. Use them for practices and games for 4 weeks then keep them or choose new ones. Below are some words players have used:
