GENERAL RULES

The following format, rules and guidelines are hereby adopted to govern the

Engineering Cup. The Engineering Cup Rules will be followed over event rules in

case of conflicts.

1. All bona fide engineering students (undergraduate or graduate) who are

currently enrolled and faculty who are currently teaching are allowed to

participate in all of the events. There will be a maximum of 2 non-teaching

faculty allowed to be included in the roster.

2. All engineering students or faculty members can play for his or her

respective department/institute only. He or she is not allowed to play for

other departments/institutes. Students pursuing graduate degrees may play

in the respective department/institute of their adviser (i.e. MS Energy

Engineering under the Chemical Engineering Department).

3. Members of the engineering varsity are allowed to play in their respective

departments/institutes.

4. Members of team A of the UP varsity from the past academic school year to

this academic year (August 2014-Present) are not allowed to play in their

respective sports and any sport that is a derivative of it (e.g. beach volleyball

players are not allowed to play volleyball).

5. Non-major students are not allowed to participate in any of the events.

6. Students who are under shifting out statusmay play for their respective

department/institute.

7. Any member of the Engineering Student Council 2014-2015 is not allowed to

play in any of the events.

I. Defaults

1. The official time that will be followed for each match is the time set by

the Engineering Student Council. Please synchronize clocks with the

clock followed by the Engineering Student Council. (time.upd.edu.ph)

2. The default time for each match is 15 minutes. The 15 minutes default

time is inclusive of warm-up and preparation time.

1

3. The grace period or default time for each match starts at the official

time set by the Engineering Student Council, which will be posted

along with the schedule of matches.

4. Incomplete teams (teams with less than the number of required

players per event) after the 15 minute grace period will be declared

default from the game.

5. Both teams/representatives will be considered default in case both

parties are not complete during their scheduled matches after the

given grace period.

6. There is no special case for players participating in simultaneous

matches. Matches will proceed as scheduled.

II. Rescheduling and Cancellation

All concerns, depending on the urgency or severity, should be

addressed to a specific member of the Engineering Cup steering

committee or the Engineering Cup teams per department/institute, as

specified.

1. Game Technicalities

Questions or clarifications regarding the game procedures or

technicalities by the complainant should be addressed first to the

captain of the concerned event. The said captain, if unable to respond

to the concern of the complainant, will forward it to their DC/IC. If still

left unmanaged, the DC/IC will forward the concern to the

Communications Head and then to the Tournament or League Heads,

then lastly to the Overall Heads until settled.

2. Game Rescheduling

Game rescheduling will only be directed to teams with a valid reason

for absence. Such would include examschedule conflicts, laboratory

classes, contests or other official businesses (validity of the excuse will

be deliberated by the Engineering Cup Steering Committee). Game

rescheduling should be done three days before the game. To

reschedule games, the team captain of the rescheduling team should

approach the DC/IC, the Communications Head, and the captain of the

other team, to settelewhen they want the game to be rescheduled. A

match can only be rescheduled once, so each party has to make sure

2

6

that a sufficient number of players will be available on the set date.

Any reasons for further rescheduling will not be honored.

3. Game Swapping

The process of game swapping is similar is to that of game

rescheduling. Additional parties to be included are the team captains

of the two other teams concerned with the schedule.

4. Rescheduling of games is only allowed for Tournaments.

5. There are only two days, Monday and Saturday, per week that are

available for rescheduled games. This will be a first-come-first-serve

basis (may change in case the teams are not available on the days

specified). This will only push through if the opponent is available on

the said date requested by the rescheduling team, if not, the

Engineering Cup Steering Committee will decide what will be done.

With regards to the time of the rescheduled games, the steering

committee will also decide what will be done.

III. Walk-in

1. The DC/IC has the choice to look for available and competent players

who are not in the roster. If DC/IC finds players who are walk-ins to

complete a team, he or she must inform the Communications Head

that they will push through with the original schedule but with

different players.

The walk-in players must submit a photocopy of their form 5 with ID

before the game.

2. A substitute player is considered as a walk-in.

3. Walk-ins for Tournaments – each walk-in is only allowed to play 1 game

during the eliminations and another game for the semis and final

games.

4. Walk-ins for Leagues – refer to the corresponding to corresponding

event’s team dynamics and default deta

VI. Bracketing

Bracketing per sport will be decided upon drawing of lots by a

representative from each department/institute. In the case of a sport not

participated by all the teams, the slot not drawn will be left blank.

VII. Jerseys

Teams are expected to wear their jerseys during the game proper. Jersey numbers are highly recommended to be included in the uniform of the players for scoring and technical purposes. In the case the team uses another uniform, besides the department/institute jersey for this year, the team captains of both teams must come to an agreement on which team

The official game rules followed is specified under the event

technicalities of each sport. These rules will be the main reference of the
