tein Distillery is the first micro-distillery in Eastern Oregon. The Stein family, whose business bears its name, believes that product excellence stems from high-quality ingredients, hand-crafted processes, and dedicated heartfelt people. Therefore, all phases of spirit making, including Stein Distillery’s novel rye-based vodka, are accomplished by hand, using carefully controlled, family recipes.

Our consumer appeal lies in the features that distinguish us from other Northwest distilleries: Grain growth (rye, wheat, and barley), harvest, and grinding are all performed on the family farm in rural Joseph – the first for any Oregon distillery. Mash-making, from our Wallowa mountain grains and deep-well glacial water, as well as fermenting through our Bavarian-made fermentation tanks, is all accomplished at the distillery, which is located on Main Street in Joseph.

Distilling is performed multiple times in a custom made Arnold Holstein Dual Column Reflux Still. Additionally, to ensure superior clarity and smoothness, the spirit is then filtered multiple times through our proprietary filtration process. Finally, the spirit is transferred to hand-labeled bottles, corked and sealed for shipment.

At Stein Distillery, careful attention to detail is kept at every level in producing genuine handmade spirits. From the farm to the shelf, Stein Distillery is a family-owned, handcrafted, turn-key operation that will capture “Made-in-Oregon” consumers, as well as those who appreciate family business, hard-work, reputation and consistent high-quality products. Our first product, Rye Vodka, (on shelves now) - has buttery overtones, a spicy-sweet palate, and a rounded, smooth finish that is excellent straight, in a variety of martinis or with various other mixers.

Look for Stein Distillery cordial releases during summer 2010 and American oak-aged whiskey starting mid-2011.
