Sim Map of LEA23 in Second Life

• This is where you first arrive on the sim as you start to learn the story of the Tinker’s accidental time travel from a Steampunk age (that never was) to a future (that might one day be) in the year 2525.!

• �Much has changed…while other things still look quite familiar to this time traveling anamorphic tinker.

LOCATION: The Tinker's Shopp

• Inspired by the Westin Hotel in my RL location, this is the place to go for social activity with a pub, restaurant, dance hall, and something hidden.!

• �The proprietor is Wabbit, who is known for working on secret things and is quite the scoundrel with rumors afoot that he may be the infamous Mr. Hamilton who is the killer of the cogs (i.e. gears).!

• �Not having gears has effects on things.

LOCATION: Twines Hostel

• This is an abandoned factory/warehouse and cogs have been put to rest out back.!

• �It’s a bit of a statement about the ill effects on mankind from economic depression and digital technology.!

• �The character Copperpunk has also been seen at times wandering the old factory!

• �Rumors say he may be trying to bring back the cogs from the dead...oooo…how Mary Shelley of him!

LOCATION: Cog Graveyard & Warehouse

• This is the library of Steam Center, which has become more of a place of historic items than for reading these days. !

• �Monkeno is the librarian and watches over the books as if they were her own children (which by the way she’s never had as she keeps to herself and her magic). !

• �Take care where you touch in the library as one thing may take you UP while another takes you DOWN.

LOCATION: Steambrary

• This is inspired by the Art Institute of Virginia Beach.!

• �This school is where Vicki (the heroine of the story) has settled down to become dean after traveling the world for many years in her dirigible.!

• �Ai includes the Dean’s Office, History Classroom, Art Gallery, and something special on the roof (just be careful what you pull and where you sit).!

• �The art in the gallery is some of the real life black and white art from AiVA student David Fliesen (SL: Joey Aboma).

LOCATION: Academy of Illumination

• A place of sweet confections where the lady Trigger has setup shop after the dance hall was closed down due to the failing economy and changes in government regulations.!

• �Trigger is often seen on the street checking her social status on a stool with a steamputer between her knees (not very ladylike if you ask me)…but social is everything to this gal!

LOCATION: Candy Shopp & Ray's Pizza

• There are seedy apartments nearby, but no one is really sure if Trigger lives in them or on the corner…as she is a street urchin.!

• �These apartments are a statement on the homeless and the possible fate of many…if times do not change us from that course.

LOCATION: Apartments

The number of Steam Apartments has increased and become even more run down since the government shutdown.

• Inspired by Town Center of Virginia Beach, this area is under development along with an attached plaza and the Darnels (which is losely inspired by the Sandler Center of the performing arts).!

• �This is being developed from Google Earth and Google Warehouse 3D models to make a Steampunkafied version. I experienced trouble with the DAE (Collada) geometry having missing faces and textures, which I am trying to fix before developing these further.

LOCATION: Steam Center & Plaza

• This is a place for the upper class to discover their creative sides.!

• �While Trigger and Stomper would love to see such shows, they could never afford the entry price. !

• �A bit of a statement on the social classes and how the poor and the rich will reside side-by-side in some instances.

LOCATION: Darnels Centre

• Playful area with Stomper to show off the wonders of imagination and 3D Steampunk creations.!

• Inspired by Nix Sands, Stomper is quite the builder and explorer, who loves to build machines to travel to new worlds and explore strange things.!

• �The Steampunk Robot Chess pieces are the work of Joe’s Makerbot, which can be printed out using a 3D printer, in case you would like to have a real life version (but sorry the Chess Higher Hat is not included in the 3D model).

LOCATION: Chess Higher Hat

• A strange whirlpool was formed recently on the north side of Steam Center, near Waterside.!

• Could this be from a disturbance in the space-time continuum?!

• Is it possible to turn back time???

LOCATION: Flux Vortex

• Inspired by the naval town of Norfolk, VA!

• �A playful area of piers and pirates with Grog for sale in a machine. !

• �The Kraken has been spotted at times in the water so take care on your journey.

LOCATION: Waterside

• Sandbox area for people to create their own Steampunk creations.!

• �Working to setup tutorials on back of the island and a sky platform above to allow an open build area. !

• �Looking for volunteers to teach others for the opening day of NOV 16th and NOV 23rd. Send IM to Joey Aboma in SL if you would like to volunteer.!

• �And yes our sandbox does have a skeleton inside a volcano…. doesn’t every sandbox include one?!

• �Look for a message from the skeleton soon on the fate of mankind.

LOCATION: Sands of Time

• It is just a rumor (and far be it from me to spread such things)….but I heard that Copperpunk has a hidden area beneath Steam Center!

• Is this where he is working in secret?!

• Only time will tell what is happening below the city.

LOCATION: Underworld

• Find a way down by posing in the right spot (hint hint) in the Steambrary.!

• �Experience the effects mankind has played upon Mother Nature. !

• �What will the oceans be like in the future and what kind of creatures might we find as a result of mankind’s environmental recklessness? !

• �In the year 2525, will Mother Nature still be alive?

LOCATION: Undersea

• Look up to the heavens to find the entrance from the place where books of magic are about. !

• �Place provides insight into the origins of Steampunk, the genre's music, and the Steampunkables characters.!

• �Performance space for the Steampunk Musical “Tinker and the Steampunkables,” which will be performed by Theater Dramatique on Nov. 16th and 23rd!

• �See the "Tinker Art" made with free AutoDesk 123D apps from a clay model of the character.!

• Pick from 3 dirigibles to fly around Steamspace and explore with your friends.

LOCATION: Steam Haven

CHARACTERSCreating the Tinker and the�Steampunkables characters

CHARACTER: The Tinker• He often spends days straight sitting on

a stool in his shop working on inventions…sensing how to fix things by meticulously examining them.!

• �He’s quite secluded and introverted feeling different from everyone else, especially since a recent experiment with teleportation morphed him into the anamorphic form of a steampunk dog.!

• �One day while working on a pocket watch from the Tinker's Box, the room exploded into steam and projected him into the distant future, where he finds other anamorphic characters who bear a similarity to his friends…including Vicki Mouse…a reminder of one he loved from afar.

CHARACTER: Vicki• An explorer/pilot who’s traveled around the world leaving

a trail of broken hearts.!

• She recently became the Dean of the Academy of Illumination.!

• ��Always searching for something or someone that is just beyond her reach (possibly the Tinker who fell for her ancestor Victoria).!

• �Extremely extroverted as the life of the party and tends to go with her gut intuition on things...often just knowing things without having to think about it.!

• �She likes to keep her options open and lets life’s journey be a product of the winds of time.

CHARACTER: Wabbit• Proprietor of the Twines Hostel and rumored to be killer of the

Cogs (Mr. Hamilton).!

• �A rather strange one with something like turrets syndrome from being on the gun range one too many times, he often says rather strange things at random, but with wisdom well beyond his years. !

• �Quite meticulous about his appearance as an aesthete, keen on fashion attire of the Victorian (1837-1901) or Edwardian (1901-1910) eras and fond of a good cigar and glass of brandy. !

• �Wabbit can be quite snotty to others, who he judges as having no sense of fashion. !

• �Has an attraction to ladies in high-button boots, who dabble as assassins when they aren’t knitting mittens.

CHARACTER: Trigger• She is rather outlandish as what some

would term a street urchin with old and dirtied victorian clothes.!

• �Trigger enjoys being the center of attention and lives life on a whim. !

• �She had hopes of being a cabaret dancer till the club was shut down by the government.!

• �That put her onto the streets, where she became close friends with Fox Stomper.

CHARACTER: Stomper• This fox has learned much of the hard life

on his own…after his parents vanished from Steam Center when he was just 8 years old.!

• �He’s lived on the streets, where he learned from other tinkers...and has grown quite a skill with driving and flying machines, and is often sought after for his building talents.!

• Characterized by his Fox Stomper boots with wrenches stashed in the sides.!

• �Loves to explore the world in the vehicles he creates and enjoys learning about different people, cultures, music, and cuisines.

CHARACTER: Monkeno• A very shy girl who’s never left home and works as

the librarian for Steam Center in the Steambrary.!

• �Over the ages, the use of books has dwindled; so she finds herself alone with her books with few, if any, visitors to the library on most days.!

• �It has become more like a museum than a hall of knowledge to most folk, but Monkeno prefers the company of a good book to that of people most days.!

• �She loves to explore in her mind and is quite the dreamer...having read so many things, her mind weaves together stories of her own.!

• �Monkeno has also been known to dabble in practicing a bit of magic in the library.

CHARACTER: Piranda• An explorer who’s sailed the 7 Seas in search of

booty and adventure...Piranda is a pirate that can literally talk your ear off with his sea stories.!

• �Be careful not to buy him too many drinks...as he can become an ugly panda with a bit too much of the rum in him.!

• �Having set off on his own at a young age to escape an abusive home, he tends to act all tough and harsh on the outside, but is really just a teddy bear inside.!

• �The sea is his mistress as he feels her call to ride the waves and feel the sea breeze and ocean spray upon his face.

CHARACTER: Copperpunk

• �He has vowed to bring back the beauty of analog clockwork…and avenge the murder of such wondrous keepers of time. �So Mr. Hamilton…you better watch your back!!!

• He is an underground type of character, who is extremely introverted and prefers the dark caves of the underworld over the sunlight of top dwellers.!

• �No one is really sure where he came from or what he does...but there are many stories about him being down in the caves and pipes below the city. !

• �Don’t let his stark form fool you though. Copperpunk has a very good spirit in him despite his rough exterior, and nemesis of Mr. Hamilton (Wabbit) who he blames for the death of the cog.
