Metso`s Neles series AS steam conditioning valves are most suitable in high pressure drop of the superheated steams as it enables the flow velocity to be controlled for pressure reduction through the multi stage trim or multi drilled hole trim and, it enables the accurate steam temperature to be controlled through the high efficient spray nozzle system. AS series are comprised of angle pattern, built in flow velocity control trim and integral spring loaded water injection nozzle separately for atomized steam temperature control. Also, series AS range of valves combines high integrity features, such as 2 or 3 dimensional flow path multi stage trim, a high flow capacity and a wide range of 'OMEGA' trim designs. The 'OMEGA' trim design presented a multi-passage, multi-turns trim. There are 2~32 turns designs available depending on pressure drop.The pressure drop is apportioned across the stacks of letdown so that the pressure drop progressively reduces as it passes through the stages of the trim.This gives excellent resistance to vibration and noise on high pressure drop applications. For very high pressure drop applications the multi stage trim, plug and seat insert would be manufactured from hardened stainless steel, stellite stainless steel, and inconels. Standard valves are equipped with VD spring diaphragm actuators or VC cylinder actuators with ND9000® intelligent valve controllers and for precise flow control, extended operational life performance monitoring on-line. Various actuators, such as electric motor, hydraulic cylinder with hydraulic power unit are also used.

Tendril (Multi-hole, Multi-stage) trimThe trim design presented a multi-stage, multi-hole trim. Thereare 1…5 stages designs available depending on pressure dropand potential for cavitation.
The Pressure drop is divided between the stages so that the pres-sure progressively reduces as it passes through the stages of thetrim. This gives excellent resistance to cavitation on high pressuredrop applications.

Omega quick change, Standard balanced trim
The Omega standard balanced trim design is based on 2 or 3dimensional multi stage trim cage and balanced plug.The opened multi stage trim shape defines the flow path throughthe valve and flow characteristics of the valve(linear, equal per-centage, or others), standard trim characteristic is linear.The balancing holes are located in the top of the plug. This trim isspecially suited to high pressure drop application and is used inthe majority of control applications.
Omega quick change, Pilot balanced trim
Pilot balanced trim construction is designed with a special pilotplug & seat built-in the main plug. The design gives excellent seattightness to leakage on high pressure drop and high temperatureapplications.The design applicable TSO (Tight Shut Off, seat leakage class V)requirement in high temperature services.
