Overview

Who is NCGAS?

What do they do?

How does this help me?

Page 3: Statewide IT Conference, Bloomington IN (October 7 th, 2014) The National Center for Genome Analysis Support, IU and You! Carrie Ganote (Bioinformatics.

Started as a 3-year NSF-funded project to support genomics.

A collaborative project between our center here at IU, the Pervasive Technology

Institute and our partners:

Meet the family

• Short-term project storage on the Data Capacitor 2 High Performance Storage System

• Storage of up to 50 terabytes of research data on IU's Scientific Data Archive tape storage system.

• Services for curation and long-term storage of data sets and final results from genome research in the IUScholarWorks

• Internet 2 backbone for fast data transfer

The host for each tool is configured individually

Quarry Mason

Data Capacitor 2Archive

NCGAS establishes tools, hardens them, and moves them into production.

Each project can get 50 TB of archive space for raw data and finished products.

Individual projects can get duplicate VMs.

Policies guarantee that untouched data is removed with time.
