Established in1986,RTI Laboratories, Inc. (RTI) isoneof the

largest, nationally recognized small-business environmentallaboratoriesintheUnitedStates.Operatingoutofmorethan24,000square feet in Livonia, Michigan, we combine a team of highlyexperienced analysts with advanced instrumentation to deliver“Service and Solutions for Your Success.” Our commitment is toconsistently provide our clients with responsive projectmanagementwhilemeetingthemoststringentqualitystandardsintheenvironmentalindustry.

RTI maintains our Quality Assurance Program in strictadherence with NELAC and Department of Defense (DoD) QualitySystemsManual(QSM)toensurethemostaccurateanddefensibledataforourclients.Undertheguidanceoftheseaccreditations,RTIperforms comprehensive testing services in accordance with EPA,SW-846,StandardMethodsandASTMapprovedmethodology.Ourcapabilities includeorganicandinorganicanalysisofsediment,soil,water, air, energetics, and several specialty analyses. Our clientsrange from the U.S. Department of Defense, to environmentalconsultingfirmsandcommercialindustryacrosstheUnitedStates.

FoundedonourSQLbased“Omega”LaboratoryInformation

Management System (LIMS), the laboratory is able to follow theprogress of each client’s project throughout the extraction andanalyticalprocess.BeginningwiththeUFP-QAPPworksheetsasthecornerstone for each federal project, the LIMS seamlesslycoordinates between project managers and laboratory analysts toautomatically integrate each client’s specific requirements.Withinthe lab, professional analysts utilize computerized processes toimportdatafrominstrumentationtotheLIMS,minimizingtheriskoftranscriptionerrorwhileoptimizingefficiency.

Once analyses are completed, the LIMS allows for theautomated generation of Level II, III and Level IV reports—withoutthe delay of manual input. Finally, our online information webportal, “Flashpoint”, provides secure, real-time data resources thatallowclientstoaccesstheirresultsandEDDsatanytime.

We participate in the most rigorous of accreditation andcompliance programs. With our focus on quality and service, RTIstrives to meet each client’s specific needs in a timely and cost-effectivemanner.

It isRTI’s intenttobeasingle-sourceofanalyticalsupportfor

ourclients.Workingtowardthatgoal,RTIassignseachclientwithanexperiencedProjectManagertoanswerallquestionsduringprojectset-upandcoordinatethesuccessfulcompletionoftheirworkorder.In addition, a back-up ProjectManager is assigned for any furtherassistanceneeded. The process begins before samples

areevenshippedtothelaboratory.ClientprojectsarefirstsetupinourLaboratory InformationManagement System (LIMS) toinclude specific requirements:analyte lists, reporting and controllimits, turnaround times, datadeliverables, and all project QAPP

specifications. Upon receiving samples, each work order isexpeditiouslyprocessedintotheLIMSbyourSampleCustodiansandre-validatedagainstthechainofcustodybyamemberofourClientServices Department. Samples are then ready for laboratoryproduction.

Laboratory analyses aremanaged by our highly-regarded professionalanalysts. Each analyticalsequence is characterized bystrict quality-control criteria,and undergoes an initialquality review by the

analytical professional prior to importation into the LIMS. Uponcompletionofallanalyticalandquality-controldata,theworkorderisvalidatedbyaseniormanagerandelectronicallygeneratedintoafinalPDF reportandanElectronicDataDeliverable (EDD).Anemailautomatically notifies the client when these files are available todownloadfromFlashpoint,oursecureonlineserver.

Finally, the Project Management Department verifies the

contract price and validates an invoice for thework order, typicallywithinonebusinessdayofthereport’scompletion.It,too,isavailablefordownloadviaFlashpoint. At any point during the process, clients can observe theprogress of their work order through Flashpoint, an integralcomponent of RTI’s mission to provide outstanding client service.Implemented over seven years ago, it has been receivedenthusiasticallybyRTI’s largeclientbaseandcontinuestofulfill theexpectationsofaprofessionallymanagedenvironmentallaboratory.

Mr.Singhhasoverthirtyyearsofexperienceinenvironmental and industrial chemistry,laboratory operations, and management. Hisresponsibilities include corporatedevelopment, enhancement of technicalexpertiseandstrategicplanning.Mr.Singhisamember of several associations and

committees, includingtheMichiganMinorityBusinessDevelopmentCouncil,MichiganAssociationofEnvironmentalProfessionalsandtheLaboratoryPracticesCommittee.

FrederickJ.HoitashDirectorofSalesandFieldServicesB.S.ChemistryGraduateStudiesinChemicalEngineering

Mr. Hoitash has over twenty-four years ofanalytical laboratory experience. This includesfourteenyearsasafoundingpartnerofHuronValley Laboratories, which was later acquiredby RTI Laboratories. As a senior managerwithin RTI,Mr. Hoitash’s role is interpret and

implement client needs and establish the corresponding laboratoryproceduresforspecialprojects.

Mr. Yohannes’ career in environmentalanalytical chemistry spans over twenty-eightyears, with more than fifteen years inmanagement. He is primarily responsible forproduction in the environmental laboratory.Mr. Yohannes’ role includes the oversight ofefficiency and personnel, instrument

maintenanceandlabsupplypurchases.

DavidHowellDirectorofFederalProgramsB.S.Chemistry

Mr. Howell takes the lead in sales for theEnvironmental Sciences division. He has morethan thirty-seven years of sales experience,with twenty-six years specializing inenvironmental laboratories. Mr. Howell isresponsible for developing the national salesplan, negotiating federal contracts and

designingproposals.

Mr.O’Bryanwasformerlyapartnerofthe

Michigan-based AAC Trinity before itsacquisition by RTI Laboratories. He holds overthirty-seven years of analytical laboratoryexperience and twenty-nine years in

management. Mr. O’Bryan is chiefly responsible for the thelaboratory quality assurance program. This includes organizinginternal laboratory audits, updating the standard operatingproceduresandreviewingtechnicaldatabeforeitsrelease.

Themanagement and staff of RTI Laboratories are dedicatedtotheeffectiveimplementationofourQualityProgrampoliciesandprocedures. Ourgoal istomeetthehighestdataqualitystandardsandconformancewithNELAP,ISO17025-2005guidelines,DoDQSM

and various statespecific requirementsto consistentlyproduce defensibledata that meets thedesignated analyticalmethod and clientspecified data qualityobjectives. This isaccomplished by

incorporating the components of our Quality System into everylaboratory process as an essential basis of day-to-day operations.ContinualimprovementsandconformancetoNELAPandDoDQualitystandards falls under the administration of our Director of QualityManagement.

RTI participates in various proficiency testing programs for each

analyte or analyte group. Theproficiency testing program isevaluated to obtain or maintainapprovalfortheanalysisofagivenanalyte. The Quality AssuranceManager keeps results of thesetestsonfile.

staffofover60professionals.Thefacilityencompassestwobuildingstotaling 24,000 square feet of laboratory, private offices, andadministrative area.All entrances to the facility are locked.Visitorsareescortedatalltimeswhileinthefacilitybymembersofthestaffonlyafterthevisitorhassignedapermanentlogbook.

The laboratory has a full complement of support equipmentand instrumentation, such as hoods, refrigerators, freezers, ovens,autoanalyzers,aTypeIIwaterfiltrationsystem,multipleairhandlingunits, etc. All instruments are maintained by either trainedemployeesormanufacturerservicepersonnel.

Inanefforttoreduceunexpectedinstrumentfailure,ensurereliable

and accurate data, whilecontrolling the costs associatedwith non-routine maintenanceand down time, the laboratoryhas implemented a preventativemaintenance system. Whendiscovering that non-routinemaintenance is required, RTI hason-site instrument service

available usually within 24 hours. The on-site service includeshardware support for GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP, AA, and otheranalyticalinstruments.
