SERVING OAKLAND COUNTY FAMILIES
As a foster parent and a former educator, I know how important it is to invest in our families, our most vulnerable, and our community. That’s why I’m working every day to make a difference for Oakland County families.
My wife Kathy and I have raised five children right here in Oakland County. We’re proud of our home, we’re proud of our community, and we’re proud of how far we’ve come as a state.
But there’s still more we can do build on the progress we’ve made. You can always count on me to do everything that I can to make a difference for the people of our community by:
• Fighting corruption and cleaning up government
• Investing in our children and our future
• Looking out for seniors and the most vulnerable
Together, we can continue to make Michigan the very best place possible to live, work, and raise a family.

2. Should donations to food banks and homeless shelters be eligible for a tax credit? q Yes q No q Unsure
3. Do you support a ban on lawmakers being able to become lobbyists immediately after leaving office? q Yes q No q Unsure
LEGISLATIVE UPDATEFOOD DONATION TAX CREDIT I am proud to sponsor Senate Bill 55, which would restore a tax credit for any donations made to food banks. We should do whatever we can to encourage residents to give to these vital organizations. This bill does just that by providing tax relief to residents who want to help their neighbor in need.
NURSING HOME RESIDENT PROTECTIONS We need to provide a peace of mind to families with a loved one in a nursing home. That’s why I’ve introduced Senate Bill 77 to allow residents or their representatives to install a video monitoring system in their private rooms under certain conditions. This would help to assure families that their relatives are being taken care of, not taken advantage of.
LOBBYING CRACKDOWN I’m working to put an end to the politician-to-lobbyist revolving door. My Senate Bill 57 would stop lawmakers from becoming paid lobbyists for at least 2 years after leaving office. I believe this is a good first step towards more transparency – and more integrity – in our state government.
