State Officer Welcome LetterState Officer Welcome Letter 212°: The Difference is One After a year of going the extra degree, we will hit 212° at the 2016 State Leadership Conference! Colorado FCCLA has definitely made the Difference of One this year. As you take the one extra step in your leadership journey and raise a degree during State Conference this week, be sure to inspire new members and guests with your astounding FCCLA accomplishments by greeting them with a handshake, stating your name and school, and sharing a little bit about your event. I personally look forward to hearing more about how your chapters have reached 212° this year. The State Officer Team takes pleasure in welcoming you to the 2016 Colorado FCCLA State Leadership Conference! Our theme this year, 212°, is inspired by the fact that at 211° water is hot, but at 212° water boils. With boiling water, comes steam, and with steam, you can power a train. Just one extra degree makes all the difference! We are proud that you have gone the extra degree in leadership through FCCLA and been the difference in yourself, family, and community. As we take a journey back to the grand opening of the FACS Program at CSU, we challenge you to share your inspiring stories with one another to help power our train all the way to the grand opening! This year, Colorado FCCLA's temperature has risen through leadership trainings, workshops, chapter activities, and conferences at all levels, but ultimately, our team would like to thank you for making this year a steamy success! As we continue to live life at the boiling point, the State Officer Team encourages you to BE the difference of one in the next few days. Flash a smile, pick up a piece of trash, and say thank you to everyone who has been a part of making this conference possible. Conference Dress CodeConference Dress CodeConference Dress Code In order to maintain the positive image of our organization, the following dress code is in effect for members while attending State Leadership Conference:

Arrival, Opening Session– Business Casual

Competitive Events – Business Professional; only exception-STAR events costumes

if applicable

Workshops – Business Professional or Business Casual

Awards Session and Dance – Business Professional, formal or semi-formal

Closing Session – Business Professional

Casual Attire is acceptable after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday and after 10:30 p.m. Friday

evening. Members not in proper dress code will be not be admitted to conference sessions. Business Professional Attire No clothing should be torn, skin tight, or revealing.

Females: suits, cropped pants or city shorts with coordinating jacket, dresses, skirts that are no less than 2 inches above the knee, blazers, dress slacks, blouses, shirts, sweaters, and dress shoes. Dark leggings (brown, black, or navy) may be worn with an appropriate top that hits mid thigh.

Males: suits or blazers, dress pants or docker-type pants (nicely pressed and in good condition), with dress shirts, dress shoes and socks. Business Casual Attire No clothing should be torn, skin tight, or revealing. No plastic-type flip flops or beach shoes.

Females: Dress or casual slacks (no blue jeans), cropped pants, sleeveless or short-sleeved dresses (no spaghetti straps or strapless); skirts that are no less than 2 inches above the knee; blouses or collared, casual shirts, and dress shoes or sandals. Dress or shirt straps must be no less than 3-fingers wide. Dark leggings (brown, black, or navy) may be worn with an appropriate top that hits mid thigh.

Males: dress or casual slacks (no blue jeans and no shorts) with oxford or polo shirt, no T-shirts, and dress shoes and socks. Banquet Attire No clothing should be torn, skin tight, or revealing. No denim is permitted.

Females: business professional, formal or semi-formal. Strapless, backless, or spaghetti strap dresses require a cover-up (shawl or shrug.) Dress or shirt bodice should not extend below the arm pit. Dark leggings (brown, black, or navy) may be worn with an appropriate top that hits mid thigh.

Males: professional business attire, including dress shirt and dress slacks are required. Casual Attire No clothing should be torn, skin tight, or revealing. Includes blue jeans (not frayed or torn), shorts and T-shirts that are acceptable for school. Clothing that is frayed or torn or has objectionable or suggestive messages or pictures is not allowed at any time. Pajama attire, sweats, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, skin tight clothing, skirts that are more than 2 inches above the knee, and bared midriffs are NOT acceptable at any time.

Say Yes to FCS Reception Nominated members may attend this reception hosted by the Family and Consumer Sciences program at Colorado State University. Attendees will be served a little dessert treat, introduced to the CSU Family and Consumer Sciences program, and entered into drawings for great gifts.

VIP Party Chapters who completed National Program projects, the Leadership Institute, or Jana’s Campaign projects may attend the VIP Party. Members will be served a fun treat while listening to great music, signing to karaoke, taking fun selfies with props, and playing life sized versions of board games.
