5th Grade Blue Ridge Trip
Our 5th grade trip to the Blue Ridge Outdoor Education
Center is on the horizon! We know our 5th graders will be
excellent representatives of State Bridge Crossing and our
community. Now is a great time to review behavior
expectations for our visit. Just like at school, all Bobcats are
expected to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn at
all times. Be on the lookout for final trip details at the end of
next week!
PBIS
PBIS is excited to get Tier II underway!! Tier II is an
additional layer of support for those children who are
identified as needing this extra intervention. If your student
qualifies for our Tier II W.I.N. program, we will reach out
with more information!
We are continuing to remind our students of the expectations
in and out of the classroom. Thank you for continuing to
remind your student(s) that they should be ready to learn and
following directions from the moment they arrive at school!
Iowa Assessment
Students in grades 3 and 5 will participate in the Iowa
Assessment during the window of October 21st through
November 1st. We are still working to complete the grade-
specific schedule and will share that soon.
If you have a student in grades 3 or 5, thank you for
providing your child a healthy breakfast and helping him
arrive to school on time (by 7:40am). Testing will begin
promptly at 8:00am each morning.
More details coming soon!

Science Force
We are excited to begin Science Force labs for this year. All activities will be in the first classroom on the right side of the
4th/5th hallway directly across from the STEM lab. Ms. Huber, the STEM lab teacher, will act as the lab leader and parents will
assist while the students are in the lab as well as help with setting up and taking down the lab.
Please register to volunteer at www.statebridgecrossing.com as soon as you sign up. Make sure you give yourself two business
days to ensure that your information is received at the school. Please be careful to use the name on your driver’s license when
you register. Siblings are not allowed in the lab for safety reasons.
Fourth and fifth grade parents need to verify the letter identifying their child's specials group prior to signing up. All students
should know their letter and the correct group that corresponds to the day of the week that they normally attend the STEM
special. Full lab information will be sent to parents who volunteer. Thank you so much for volunteering! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0849AEA728A4F58-science3
Vision/Hearing Screening
The vision/hearing screenings are scheduled for October 4th. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Jill Francis at

All Pro Dad
SBCE’s first All Pro Dad breakfast meeting will be held on Friday, September 20th in the cafeteria. We’ll be unpacking the
topic of Self-Control. Self-control is about learning to pause before you react to something or someone. We can make choices
sometimes when we are sad or angry, but those choices are not always the best. Please make it a point to be at our first meeting.
The meetings are free and, as always, donuts, raffle prizes, and plenty of encouragement will be planned for that morning.
