Inland Empire Community Newspapers • October 25, 2012 • Page A13 State Attorney General Kamala Harris flies to IE to support Cheryl Brown By Cynthia Mendoza O n Thursday, October 18 candidate for Assembly for the 47th District Cheryl Brown welcomed State At- torney General Kamala Harris to a meet and greet at the San Bernardino Hilton when Harris flew down from Sacramento for the purpose of personally express- ing her strong support for Brown. After mingling and taking photos with guests including Assembly- member Wilmer Amina Carter, Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod and other guests including faith leaders, community leaders, and representatives from area busi- nesses, Harris offered her bold and unequivocal support of Brown’s campaign. “It is very clear in my mind that Cheryl Brown is the best person to represent this district in Sacra- mento,” Harris said during the re- ception in the inner courtyard. “I wanted to make it clear that my support is unquestionable. Let’s stand behind her and work hard to send her to the Assembly.” During her remarks Harris said that all people are good intentioned when they run for public office but that not everyone has the courage to make the right decisions neces- sary for progress. She said that this part of the state is often not heard from in Sacramento and that she feels that Brown knows how to collaborate and bring people to- gether. Harris also made it clear that she flew from Sacramento for the pur- pose of expressing her strong sup- port for Brown. “Tell everyone that the state at- torney general supports Cheryl Brown for Assembly,” Harris con- cluded. On her end, Brown was very pleased not only with receiving the Ms. Harris’ support but the fact that she flew down from Sacra- mento to express it personally. "It was confirmation that I'm on the right track and that we're going in the right direction," Brown said about Harris's endorsement and visit. "We have a lot of law en- forcement support but it meant a lot to me that the 'top cop' would come."
