LESSON THEME
Health through Sports
LESSON PLANHL Theme – Health through sports.1. Pre- requisites – Novice High to Intermediate HL with
mixed ability of literacy levels.2. Goal Of the Unit - Students will be able to generate
awareness of health and Importance of sports among their groups and in their community.
3. Content Objectives – Become Health conscious by participating and playing in community sports and become member of Hindi- Urdu Community sports club.
4. Language Objective- Understand and learn about various community Sports through the instructions in the target language.
5. Resources & Materials- HL families, community center, you tube, written Instructions, Audio, Internet websites.
6. Instructional Hours- 3- 5 Hrs.
TARGET LANGUAGE ACTIVITIESI. HL Students will watch the video link
and answer Teacher’s questions.( Interpretive Activity)
II. Interview a sports player of heritage country.( Interpersonal Activity)
III. Through Role play participate in the sports game.( Interpersonal Activity)
IV. Prepare an event flyer to promote the sports in Hindi- Urdu community.(Presentational Activity)
DAY 1 (1-1.5HRS) Pre Activity- Students will share their thoughts about
the importance of health and ways to become healthy. Students will watch a video in which young kid speaks
about the benefit of health through sports. Teacher ask what they observe in the video and their
inputs and if they support playing sports for being healthy and it’s benefits on their studies at school.
Teacher asks students in collaborative group to make list of 5 different sports of their heritage country and write its brief description in points.
On the basis of this group activity a favorite sports of the class is decided.
Home work- Students will gather more information from their family and ask what they think about their community club and if they support the idea.
DAY 2 (1- 1.5 HRS) Review the Home work and discuss the findings. Discuss the ways to promote Health through sports. Discuss the process to establish a cricket club involving
Hindi –Urdu community. In groups Students will prepare a campaign for
establishing a sport club.
In groups Students will work on the matter and layout of the flyers inviting community members, at this Hindi –Urdu community sports event for Hindi-Urdu community sports club.
Discuss the Demographic analysis of Hindi –Urdu community of that Area.
Teacher will ask Students to form Hindi-Urdu sports team.
DAY 3(1- 2 HRS) Novice students will present a short speech
about the health benefits of playing sports and the brief Introduction of the sports played between Hindi Urdu community team.
Intermediate Students will describe the goals of the community sport club and its future plans. Their presentation will highlight the benefit of sports for students and the community.
Final Sports Game presentation at the community center between Hindi-Urdu teams.
