Stark County District Library

MeSSage froM tHe direCtorDear Readers,Something BIG is brewing at your library…and it will lead

all the way to your smartphone and computer. This summer we will unveil the smartest site on the Internet, a new Online 24/7 Library, accessible to you from the comfort of your home. You thought it was easy to use the library? Stay tuned to stay smart, because we are looking for more ways to give you library service that’ll be smarter than ever.

“Fizz! Boom! READ!” This summer celebrate the joys and adventures that await those who dare to open the pages of a book. If you are a parent, grandparent, or friend of a child, I challenge you to invest time this summer into reading with a young person. So many children lose ground during the summer

and, with a little encouragement from you, they can stay on track for smart results.Do you love to learn? If you answered “yes,” you made the smart choice. Browse

these pages with your pen and calendar in hand, and you will no doubt find many opportunities to connect at your library. From computer classes to Family Fun Days, from Listen @ the Library with the Canton Symphony Orchestra to Pups and Pages – there is truly something for everyone.

The rumors are true that everything is free here – all you need is a library card and a desire to get smarter.

In Service,

Q: What is a Rube Goldberg Machine?A: A contraption, invention, or apparatus deliberately over-engineered that performs a very simple task in a very complicated fashion, usually including a chain reaction. The expression is named after American cartoonist and inventor Rube Goldberg (1883–1970). It is also a lot of fun to make and entertaining to watch.
