So what are we to do? What is there to be achieved for the people and ournation? The countrys every move is in the news and we only have to grasp whatlies beneath all the social, economic and political hullabaloo to get the answer.Every detail is in black and white and, through it all, we can count on STAR to be

there and witness our every breath. History has been on its pages and itcontinues to dedicate itself to a better enlightenment of all. Print media isimpressed with public interest, and rightly so because what we read makes upmuch of what we know. And what we get to read from STAR is out of its deepconcern for the needs and aspirations of the Filipino for genuine democracy. Wehave been grappling with the Mindanao crisis for a long time now but still its endis not in sight. How could we have made sense out of this slow drag in theresolution of the problem without the detailed articulation we get from STAR? Ihail the government for the eye-for-an-eye stand it has taken; I hail STAR formaking me see the tit-for-tat disposition coming. Filipinos are quick to the uptakeand comprehension is a breeze for us. We only need a good source, a good

    guide. STAR, that is.

The Philippines is still at the stage of strengthening its new government and theadministration needs us. We will know where the government stands and wherewe have to place ourselves by knowing the truth and following the light that thenews updates shed. STAR lives up to its name by being the unflickering lightover dim spots in our way to true growth and development. It is the countrysguide through all odds by clarifying issues and answering questions definitelymore difficult than "What happened to the world yesterday?"

These days, information is the name of the game. Its the information age. Good

    thing,STAR

captures each piece of information in its pages and gets themessage across. Clear and complete. Whatever change the world undergoes,STAR stays unswayed in its responsible reporting of the truth that we need aboutsports, entertainment, business, affairs of the world and national concerns, so inthe end, we better understand what it takes to prosper and to invigorate thesinews of our democratic setup. All these have been brought to us by TheSTAR.

Im in second year of Law now and, thus far, STAR has never failed in showingme how important a part law plays in the bigger scheme of things concerning thecountry and its people. Law is almost all-encompassing and thats how far-reaching the solution to our problems must be. I dream of playing a big role ineffecting the changes Ive long been wanting at least in my community. Notrealizing it not until now, of course STAR has changed a big deal in me.Ive outgrown my former unconcern and my worry-free days have given way to adesire to be involved in worthwhile cause. Again, EDSA II comes to mind.

We all can change the course of our history and lead ourselves away fromturmoil to unity and reconciliation. Yes, Mindanao included. Weve got STAR.Well, not the one of Bethlehem. But, just the same, a guiding light that points uswise Filipinos to where we always wanted to be: a peaceful, prosperousPhilippines. Tough job, right? And the road is rough. I know itll be okay, though:Snoopy and his gang are sure to cheer us up no matter what.

So, what happened to the world?

Can I say, STAR happened? Oh, yes, it still does!
