IMAGE SCALINGEven in mature, file-based workflows, a trip to baseband

is sometimes required because the high-quality image

scalers reside outside of the file domain. Tachyon provides

an image scaling solution that surpasses many of the “big

name” legacy hardware devices and is a simple command

line versus a round trip to/from baseband. With the ability

to provide resolutions ranging from mobile devices to 4K

theatrical, Tachyon is the only scaling device your file-based

workflow will need.

With broadcasters around the globe sharing content, the need for file-based, high quality mo-

tion estimated frame rate conversions has become paramount. In Tachyon, PAL/ NTSC/Theatrical

frame rate conversions are all performed accurately using phase correlation and other motion

estimation data. Even the most challenging cadence issues, such as broken pulldown patterns,

composited images where pulldown patterns are out of phase, and Intermixed pulldown/inter-

laced images, are automatically fixed using Cinnafilm’s advanced algorithms. Higher quality im-

ages, higher transcoding success rates, and the ability to convert to any frame rate – that is the

power of Tachyon.

DARK ENERGY PLUG-INThe legendary image optimization capabilities of Dark Energy are available as a plug-in to

Tachyon. Fully automated denoise/degrain/dustbust algorithms remove up to 80% of all un-

wanted noise and single instance anomalies. We begin with a highly accurate scene cut detec-

tion so we can segment each shot for optimal noise reduction. Next is a thorough noise profil-

ing using a powerful spatial-temporal hybrid filter which performs analysis in 4 frequency ranges

in each color channel. The result is noise reduction without loss of image sharpness or detail.
