Neither vRad nor vRad radiologists are responsible for establishing or approving protocols in use at the place of service. The imaging facility is responsible for assessing each patient’s needs, applying appropriate standards of care, and following the facility’s protocols. The decision to administer intravenous contrast to a patient is a complex and local one, made onsite by clinical teams and onsite physicians using best practices, even in the absence of a local radiology group. The presence of a thorough contrast protocol is necessary as is clinical expertise and judgment for individual patients. For this reason, vRad does not provide blanket contrast protocols.

Standard Imaging Protocols

This document includes typical imaging protocols for diagnostic imaging. vRad teleradiologists

expect to see imaging resulting from the use of these or substantially similar protocols in

situations where there is no contraindication or facility requirement that requires a different

protocol.

Neither vRad nor vRad radiologists are responsible for establishing or approving protocols in

use at the place of service. The imaging facility is responsible for assessing each patient’s needs,

applying appropriate standards of care, and following the facility’s protocols.
