Studs and Shear Connectors
Studs and Shear connectors are available in various shapes and sizes. Depending on the application ,these studs are readily available or are customized accordingly.
They are generally available in diameter size ranging from 3mm to 25 mm.(According to AWS)
Classified as threaded, non threaded, head or without head etc.
What is Stud Welding?
STUD WELDING is a unique, one step fastening process. It is a high-speed metal fastening process in which a metal fastener can be applied by arc welding to a metal work piece.A key factor that differentiates stud welding from other fastening processes is that the fastener( stud, shear connector) is attached to the work piece without damaging the other side or even there is no access required on reverse side.
Types of welding process available Capacitor Discharge Stud Welding Drawn Arc Stud Welding Short cycle process
Capacitor discharge stud welding: Especially suited for welding on thin plates from about 0.5 mm. Minimum plate thickness: 1/10 of stud diameter. Welding range: M3-M8(M10). Small scale applications like household appliances, electronics etc.
Drawn arc stud welding: Especially suited for welding on thicker plates of 3 mm and above. Minimum plate thickness: 1/8 of stud diameter. Welding range: dia. 3 to 25 mm. Large scale applications like composite structure, boilers, ship-building etc.
Short cycle stud welding: Especially suited for welding on thinner plates. Exceptionally suitable for stud diameters of up to 12mm.
