Initial Test Set-UpBimba contracted with an independent, nationally accredited testing laboratory (National Technical Systems) to perform necessary testing to obtain IP69K certification for our new Stainless Steel Flat-1®. Complete test results are available upon request.

Test Procedure Samples are placed in dust chamber along with .125 lb/ft³ of talcum powder. A vacuum is applied to the samples not exceeding 41 PSI of pressure during the duration of the test. The dust inside the chamber is agitated regularly for eight hours. Upon completion samples are functionally checked.

Test ResultsThe test was conducted according to IEC 60529 IP6X. At the completion of the test samples were visually inspected. No dust ingress in both samples.

• The Ingress Protection scale is an internationally recognized scale that was developed to provide specific information on protection levels for components against the ingress of liquids and solids into devices that could result in product failure.

• The first number refers to amount of protection against solid matter and the second number refers to the amount of protection against liquids.

• The larger the number, the greater the protection.

• The IP69K rating provides the highest level of protection against the ingress of dust and high temperature, high pressure water.

• Products with this certification ideal for use in conditions where equipment must be carefully sanitized.

• Industries such as the food and beverage industry benefit most from the assurance that their machine components are fully protected against the potentially harmful effects of aggressive wash down practices.

Test Procedure The samples are mounted and sprayed with tap water from a distance of 6 in. for 30 seconds in each four positions (0°, 30°, 60°, and 90° from vertical) while the rack was rotated at 5 rpm. The water was sprayed at a pressure of 1305 PSI at a flow rate of about 3.96 gallons per minute and the temperature was set to 176° F.

Test ResultsThe test was performed according to ISO 20653 IPX9K. The samples were weighed before the test. The small sample had an initial weight of 754.8g and the larger sample had an initial weight of 2166.45g. The weight after the test for the small sample was 755.1g and the larger sample weighed 2167.78g. The samples were also visually inspected after as well. The test samples had no water ingress.
