bull American Job Centers (AJCs) are high-capacity sites serving the general job-seeking population as well as
businesses There are five in Chicago and five in suburban Cook County
bull Delegate Agencies provide services to job seekers and businesses differing from AJCs in that they are
smaller and may serve a smaller geographic area or special population
bull Youth Delegate Agencies provide services to assist youth ages 16-24 in achieving academic and
employment success
bull Sector Centers are business service hubs concentrating on business and job seeker services related to
a specific industry sector and are responsible for educating the other WIOA delegate agencies on aspects of
the given sector The Partnership currently funds centers in the information technology health care and retail
and hospitality sectorsmdashtransportation distribution and logistics opens in 2020
bull Career Pathway Training Programs are cohort-based demand-driven skills training programs in the regionrsquos
focus industry sectors and may also include bridge programs designed to serve individuals with basic skills
deficiency andor limited English skills

On-the-Job Training for New Hires
On-the-job training (ldquoOJTrdquo) is a WIOA business tool that allows employers to be
reimbursed for a portion of wages paid to new hires during the training period The
purpose of OJT is to provide a hands-on method of teaching the skills knowledge and
competencies needed for new hires to perform a specific job within the workplace
KEY OJT Takeaways
Training takes place at the normal job site or as otherwise directed by the employer
Employers may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the wage rate of an OJT
participant for the costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to
the OJT
Subject to funding availability and the OJT Traineersquos needs
OJT reimbursement cannot exceed $10000 per new hire
Training duration can be no less than four weeks or exceed 6 months
Training duration must be in line with Specific Vocational Preparation

Coordinated Reentry Council and Pilot Program In collaboration with the Cook
County Justice Advisory Council The Partnership recently concluded eight months of
convenings for the Coordinated Reentry Council which resulted in recommendations for
five systemic changes to the regionrsquos reentry system Included within this effort is a two-
year pilot program to serve 150 returning citizens with pre- and post-release career
services and other holistic resources
Chatham Education and Workforce Center 11000 square foot state-of-the-art
workforcetraining center opened in January 2021 featuring a Maker Lab flexible space
for use by community groups dedicated classrooms office space and access to all of

Coordinated Reentry Council and Pilot Program In collaboration with the Cook
County Justice Advisory Council The Partnership recently concluded eight months of
convenings for the Coordinated Reentry Council which resulted in recommendations for
five systemic changes to the regionrsquos reentry system Included within this effort is a two-
year pilot program to serve 150 returning citizens with pre- and post-release career
services and other holistic resources
Chatham Education and Workforce Center 11000 square foot state-of-the-art
workforcetraining center opened in January 2021 featuring a Maker Lab flexible space
for use by community groups dedicated classrooms office space and access to all of
The Partnershiprsquos programming and services The center is made possible through the
generosity of Steve and Jessica Sarowitz with additional sponsorship offered by Blue
Cross Blue Shield ComEd Uber Verizon and Fifth Third Bank

On-the-Job Training for New Hires
On-the-job training (ldquoOJTrdquo) is a WIOA business tool that allows employers to be
reimbursed for a portion of wages paid to new hires during the training period The
purpose of OJT is to provide a hands-on method of teaching the skills knowledge and
competencies needed for new hires to perform a specific job within the workplace
KEY OJT Takeaways
Training takes place at the normal job site or as otherwise directed by the employer
Employers may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the wage rate of an OJT
participant for the costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to
the OJT
Subject to funding availability and the OJT Traineersquos needs
OJT reimbursement cannot exceed $10000 per new hire
Training duration can be no less than four weeks or exceed 6 months
Training duration must be in line with Specific Vocational Preparation

Coordinated Reentry Council and Pilot Program In collaboration with the Cook
County Justice Advisory Council The Partnership recently concluded eight months of
convenings for the Coordinated Reentry Council which resulted in recommendations for
five systemic changes to the regionrsquos reentry system Included within this effort is a two-
year pilot program to serve 150 returning citizens with pre- and post-release career
services and other holistic resources
Chatham Education and Workforce Center 11000 square foot state-of-the-art
workforcetraining center opened in January 2021 featuring a Maker Lab flexible space
for use by community groups dedicated classrooms office space and access to all of

On-the-Job Training for New Hires
On-the-job training (ldquoOJTrdquo) is a WIOA business tool that allows employers to be
reimbursed for a portion of wages paid to new hires during the training period The
purpose of OJT is to provide a hands-on method of teaching the skills knowledge and
competencies needed for new hires to perform a specific job within the workplace

Training takes place at the normal job site or as otherwise directed by the employer
Employers may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the wage rate of an OJT

Business Services Spotlight ndash On the Job Training
On-the-Job Training for New Hires
On-the-job training (ldquoOJTrdquo) is a WIOA business tool that allows employers to be
reimbursed for a portion of wages paid to new hires during the training period The
purpose of OJT is to provide a hands-on method of teaching the skills knowledge and
competencies needed for new hires to perform a specific job within the workplace
KEY OJT Takeaways
Training takes place at the normal job site or as otherwise directed by the employer
Employers may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the wage rate of an OJT
participant for the costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to
the OJT
Subject to funding availability and the OJT Traineersquos needs
OJT reimbursement cannot exceed $10000 per new hire
Training duration can be no less than four weeks or exceed 6 months
Training duration must be in line with Specific Vocational Preparation

Coordinated Reentry Council and Pilot Program In collaboration with the Cook
County Justice Advisory Council The Partnership recently concluded eight months of
convenings for the Coordinated Reentry Council which resulted in recommendations for
five systemic changes to the regionrsquos reentry system Included within this effort is a two-
year pilot program to serve 150 returning citizens with pre- and post-release career
services and other holistic resources
Chatham Education and Workforce Center 11000 square foot state-of-the-art
workforcetraining center opened in January 2021 featuring a Maker Lab flexible space
for use by community groups dedicated classrooms office space and access to all of
The Partnershiprsquos programming and services The center is made possible through the
generosity of Steve and Jessica Sarowitz with additional sponsorship offered by Blue
Cross Blue Shield ComEd Uber Verizon and Fifth Third Bank

bull American Job Centers (AJCs) are high-capacity sites serving the general job-seeking population as well as
businesses There are five in Chicago and five in suburban Cook County
bull Delegate Agencies provide services to job seekers and businesses differing from AJCs in that they are
smaller and may serve a smaller geographic area or special population
bull Youth Delegate Agencies provide services to assist youth ages 16-24 in achieving academic and
employment success
bull Sector Centers are business service hubs concentrating on business and job seeker services related to
a specific industry sector and are responsible for educating the other WIOA delegate agencies on aspects of
the given sector The Partnership currently funds centers in the information technology health care and retail
and hospitality sectorsmdashtransportation distribution and logistics opens in 2020
bull Career Pathway Training Programs are cohort-based demand-driven skills training programs in the regionrsquos
focus industry sectors and may also include bridge programs designed to serve individuals with basic skills
deficiency andor limited English skills

Coordinated Reentry Council and Pilot Program In collaboration with the Cook
County Justice Advisory Council The Partnership recently concluded eight months of
convenings for the Coordinated Reentry Council which resulted in recommendations for
five systemic changes to the regionrsquos reentry system Included within this effort is a two-
year pilot program to serve 150 returning citizens with pre- and post-release career
services and other holistic resources
Chatham Education and Workforce Center 11000 square foot state-of-the-art
workforcetraining center opened in January 2021 featuring a Maker Lab flexible space
for use by community groups dedicated classrooms office space and access to all of
The Partnershiprsquos programming and services The center is made possible through the
generosity of Steve and Jessica Sarowitz with additional sponsorship offered by Blue
Cross Blue Shield ComEd Uber Verizon and Fifth Third Bank

On-the-Job Training for New Hires
On-the-job training (ldquoOJTrdquo) is a WIOA business tool that allows employers to be
reimbursed for a portion of wages paid to new hires during the training period The
purpose of OJT is to provide a hands-on method of teaching the skills knowledge and
competencies needed for new hires to perform a specific job within the workplace
KEY OJT Takeaways
Training takes place at the normal job site or as otherwise directed by the employer
Employers may be reimbursed up to 50 percent of the wage rate of an OJT
participant for the costs of providing the training and additional supervision related to
the OJT
Subject to funding availability and the OJT Traineersquos needs
OJT reimbursement cannot exceed $10000 per new hire
Training duration can be no less than four weeks or exceed 6 months
Training duration must be in line with Specific Vocational Preparation
