St. Joseph’s Cemetery AssociationSt Joe’s Cemetery is located on the east side of 11thStreet on the north side of the Crystal Sugar plant inMoorhead. The cemetery is for the use of theparishioners of St Francis de Sales, St Joseph’s, St Elizabeth, Dilworth, and StCecelia’s in Sabin. Governance is accomplished by a board of directors, which ismade up of the pastors and lay representatives from each parish.

If cremation is in your burial plans, St. Joseph’s Cemetery has twocolumbaria, which are beautiful structures that holds urns of cremains. Withineach columbarium there are single and double niches. The columbaria arelocated in the original cemetery near the south entrance. They have single anddouble niches. A single niche sells for $1,250 and a double niche sells for $1,525.These prices include the name plaque for the niche. Plots in the new cemeteryon the east side are $500 each or $250 for infant lots. Contact Rob Thom at (701)566-2605 for additional information or to purchase a niche or plot.

The following policy of the Board of Directors governs the population ofeach gravesite.

Policy—16-001 -- One gravesite would be limited to two urns ofcremains. If a casket holding a body were to be buried in the gravesitefirst, two urns of cremains may be buried above the casket. If an urn ofcremains is the first buried in the gravesite, only one additional urn ofcremains may be buried within the same gravesite. The only possibleway one gravesite may hold more than the remains of two bodies is if thecasket is the first occupant of the site with two urns buried above.Cremains will not be dis-interred to allow a casket to have the lowerlocation.
