PASTOR’S COLUMN Dear Parish Family, members, a endees, guests and seekers, Think Locally & Act Globally! Deacon Manuel has asked to be relieved of his ministerial responsibili es in order to spend more me with his wife, Carmen. Father Machado and myself are greatly ap-precia ve of ALL that Deacon Manuel has done for "our parish family". I have grant-ed him a "leave of absence" from his Decaonal du es. I promised him that he and his wife would be in our prayers. He remains a parishioner and when you see him at Mass he is there like you, as a worshiper. Because of the growing needs of our parish, I have requested the Diocese to assign another Deacon to Saint Clement. Not only our parish but our en re diocese is in need of more bilingual Deacons. Have you considered whether or not God could be calling you to be a Deacon? To help you be er understand if God could be calling you, here are the basic requirements for a Candidate : 1) Has received the Sacraments of Bap sm, Confirma on and Communion 2) Is a registered member of Saint Clement 3) Par cipates weekly in Sunday Eucharist and regularly receives Holy Communion 4) Is ac vely involved in a Ministry and has a willingness to SERVE 5) May be Single or Married. If married needs to have the support of their wife and children 6) Lives a balanced emo onal and spiritual life 7) Needs to be 35 or no older than 65 at the me of Ordina on 8) Has a willingness to dedicate themselves to a four year Study & Forma on program In October we are going to begin a Discernment Group for those men who are inter-ested in learning MORE about being a Deacon. Please begin praying NOW, that God will raise up MANY candidates from our Parish Community. Do you remember this from last week's Homily? In this graphic we are shown in a prac cal way how we are to be Trinity Centered and Discipleship Driven. In the center is the Trinity. You and I need to make a con-scious decision & make the Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the center of our lives. This is the most cri cal first step. Next, you will see the five spokes, that make up the wheel. Each spoke of the Vision, represents one of the five Habits Jesus taught his disciples. If they were good enough for the first disciples, they are good enough for us. The five HABITS are: Pray; Study; Serve; Community and Evangeliza on. Church to be balanced, we need all five HABITS. Church to be a balanced Disciple, we need all five HABITS. An EXTRA SPECIAL Thank you to ALL who made our Time & Talent Fair so successful. If you gave us a card, you will be contacted in the next two weeks. Thanks for your par cipa on. I am at St Paul's in St Petersburg this weekend preaching on the needs of our Mi-grant Ministry. El Diacono Manuel a pedido ser relevado de sus responsabilidades ministeriales con el fin de pasar mas empo con su esposa, Carmen. El Padre Machado y yo estamos muy agradecidos de todo lo que el Diacono Manuel ha hecho por “nuestra familia parro-quial”. Le he concedido una excedencia laboral de sus funciones diaconales. Le prome-
que el y su esposa estarán en nuestras oraciones. El sigue siendo un parroquiano y cuando lo miren en Misa, el esta ahí como ustedes. Debido a las crecientes necesidades de nuestra parroquia, he pedido a la Diócesis asig-nar otro Diacono a San Clemente. No sólo nuestra parroquia, sino toda nuestra diócesis está en necesidad de Diáconos bilingües. ¿Ha considerado si Dios lo esta llamando ha ser diácono? Para ayudarlo a mejor entender si Dios lo esta llamando, aquí están los requisitos básicos para un can-didato: 1. Haber recibido los sacramentos de Bau smo, Confirmación y Comunión 2. Ser miembro registrado de San Clemente 3. Par cipar regularmente de Misa y recibir comunión regularmente 4. Estar ac vamente involucrado en un ministerio y tener el deseo de SERVIR 5. Pueden ser solteros o casados. Si casado, debe tener el apoyo de su esposa e hijos. 6. Vivir una vida emocionalmente y espiritualmente balanceada 7. Deben tener 35 años de edad o no mayor de 65 en el momento de la Ordenación. 8. Estar dispuesto dedicar 4 años al programa de Formación y Estudio En octubre comenzaremos un grupo de discernimiento para hombres que estén intere-sados en aprender MAS sobre come ser Diacono. Por favor, comiencen a rezar AHO-RA , para que Dios levante a MUCHOS candidatos de nuestra comunidad parroquial. ¿Recuerdan esto de la Homilía del pasado fin de semana? Después, van a ver los cinco rayos que hacen la rueda Cada rayo de visión, representa una de las cinco costum-bres que Jesús enseño a sus discípulos. Si fueron sufi-cientemente Buenos para sus primeros discípulos son suficientemente Buenos para nosotros. Las cinco cos-tumbres son: Oración, Studio, Servicio, Comunidad y Evangelización. Iglesia, para estar balanciado, necesitamos todas las cinco costumbres para ser unos Disipulos balaceados necesitamos las cinco costumbres.
