Dear Parishioner Families,
Our communities and world need leaders with a foundation in their faith and strong moral values. That’s the goal of Catholic education at St. Catherine of Genoa ~ St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Academy,
where students find a nurturing, yet rigorous learning environment based in Christ’s teachings. At the Academy each child grows in meaningful ways, learning they are part of something much greater than themselves and feeling empowered to reach for their highest potential. When our students go on to high school, they not only succeed academically, they also are viewed as compassionate, intellectually
strong, faith-filled leaders. We recognize the cost of a Catholic education may be a barrier to realizing all these benefits. Our parishes are committed to working with each interested family to provide need-based scholarship support to make
the Academy’s tuition possible. Expand your knowledge of St. Catherine of Genoa ~ St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Academy by taking a tour and seeing what we offer. You will meet our dedicated faculty and familiarize yourself with the chal-
lenging academic programs and learning opportunities available. To arrange a personal tour, please contact Principal Jeannette B. Charles at 718.629.9330. More infor-mation about the St. Catherine of Genoa ~ St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Academy experience can be
found at scgstl.org. We look forward to welcoming you to our campus. Sincerely yours in Christ,

1st Sunday of Advent symbolizes Hope reminding us that Jesus is coming. Isaiah 40:31 “They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on ea-gles’ wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.” 2nd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Peace reminding us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good will toward men.
Isaiah 32:17 “The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assur-ance forever.” 3rd Sunday of Advent symbolizes Joy reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus. Romans 12:12 “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” 4th Sunday of Advent symbolizes Love reminding us that God is love. Romans 12:9-10 "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." Third Sunday of Advent is rose. This color symbolizes joy and represents the happiness we will experience when Jesus comes again. The Third Sunday is a day of anticipatory celebration. It is formerly called "Gaudete" Sunday; gaudete means "rejoice" in Latin.
